i thought i would ask here as trawling the internet opposed to seeking experienced opinion is preferred

i am on a Ed visa now, this runs out end of november

i was married to a thai national in august so think i can now apply for a non immigrant O visa

where would be the fastest place to get this visa from with minimal hassle?

First of all, you can apply now at immigration for a 60 days extension, need marriage certificate, your spouse id an house registration, fee is Bt 1,900.

Secondly the recommended place is Savannakhet Laos for a multi-entry non-imm 'O' visa. Combined with the extension above that will last up to 17 months in country with border runes every 3 - 5 months.

You can also obtain a year long extension of stay (in you are male need the income requites) that you can read in any of many, many running threads on the subject.

You could try changing the reason for your extension of stay to on based upon marriage but you would need 400k baht in a Thai bank in your name only for 60 days or proof of 40k baht income.
