My Fiance successfully got a tourist visa to UK and came for 3 months earlier this year, we was hoping to apply for a settlement visa in December after getting married but we cannot now apply until after the current UK tax year finishes in April 2015. Instead we want to apply for another tourist visa for her to come in February and stay until August when we'll go back to Thailand and apply for the settlement visa.

What I'd like to know is when applying should we mention that at time of travel we'll be married and that we plan to go for a settlement visa. My instinct is to be 100% honest and hope that's seen as being genuine and therefore more likely for acceptance. On the other hand I wonder if admitting we'll be married and that she plans to settle in the UK would be seen as grounds for doubting she'll return to Thailand when her tourist visa expires.

Your initial instinct is correct; be 100% honest in the application.

She in her application or you in your supporting letter should fully explain your plans and why she is not applying for settlement at this time. Also make it clear that you both understand that she cannot convert a visit visa to settlement in the UK and she will be returning to Thailand to apply for settlement there.

Remember that each application is treated separately, so although she has had a previous UK visit visa she/you should supply full supporting evidence for this one as before.

In the words of the real Pete Beale from Eastenders, "your havin a laugh mate"

Sorry Pete, but you post a thread asking for advice and you are given advice. You then choose not to continue the discussion but start a new topic on the same subject but with a slightly different twist days later. Sorry I cant be bothered I have already offered by advice in your other thread.

The thread I assume you're talking about was to do with whether entry into UK would be accepted on a one way ticket at UK point of entry, hardly the same subject as I've asked for advice for here.

Thanks for the advice offered anyway.
