Southern Islands have never been so quiet, thank you Mr General ? Clean but poor Thailand soon ?

Hello,

In the south for some business all owners complain that it has never been like this before, and they all thank the "good" army that will save Thailand, but also ruin all its business...

Can you find the same situation everywherr in Thailand ?

So it's now clear that nobody from the side in charge now will ever be able to win any election and that anybody no election will be organized in the next years ?

If you have some ideas...

What can I say when you are smarter than me.

Personally I think places like Surin Beach were a bit out of control and expanding along the coast.

Bangkok needs to clean up the sidewalk and street vendors now.

I am all for progress and encouraging small business but it needs to be regulated.

Every time there is a shake out the doom and gloom mechants start singing that familar parrot tune, the industious Thai will find a new way a new service to provide.

Perhaps the problem is, other than against the US$ the ฿ is high. Also Europe's economy is not doing that well, and the tourist islands have been getting a lot of bad press lately. To top it all off this is the lowest of the low season. I remember when I lived on Koh Samui the end of October, beginning of November there were zero tourists.

Talking to individual business owners, it it difficult to get a clear picture. I am in Khao Lak/Phangnga, and I had the impression this October there were more tourists around than last year October. Usually at the beginning of November, there are somewhat less tourists than at the end of October, prices of flights/hotals having gone up.

" Southern Islands"???

Are we talking about the " shady side" of Thailand and the exploitative businesses?

Maybe not such a bad deal for the good people of Thailand, if they are only losing the reputation that attracts the sleazy tourist from the west!

In my area ( the north east ), the only the only "businesses" that the military has paid much attention to are the massage parlors and bars where some what shady people work and patronize and the drug dealers.

This had pleased rather than upset most of the local people.

I guess, if you have invested in a business that does not deal in shady shenanigans, but caters to those who patronize them in the South ( hotels, restaurants and the lik), you have just made a bad judgement and bad investment.

But in a way, you are just as guilty as those peddling the flesh by supporting their patrons for your own profit.

It will hurt some who have made huge profits for a long time, but removing the wormy apples from this barrel called Thailand will benefit most of the good folks here.

When the scum is removed from the pond, more respectable tourist will be far less reluctant to visit and find a very wonderful and interesting country to explore without the fear of exposing their families to the sleaze Thailand is now famous for.

In my area, most people are very pleased and support the new government.

Here, at least, I think they would do well in an election.
