Popular Post flyingsaucersarereal Posted October 30, 2014 Popular Post Share Posted October 30, 2014 I would like to defend all the Farang out there that have ever been called stingy, cheap charlie or anything like that before by a Thai woman. Here are some of our reasons for being careful with our money spending. 1. Most of us live alone in Thailand meaning we have no blood relatives to lean on if we spend all our money like most Thai's do. (Thai people have a endless number of relatives that they can call up if they get into a money jam most Farang do not.) 2. We have a lot of money but also have a lot of bills. We might have 2 homes a car and other things to pay for so big money yes but big bills also yes. 3. We might have slaved for many years to save enough money to retire and our living off of that money and want it to last through retirement. 4. We don't believe in "Nam Jai" or the concept of showing generosity to all people. We have a belief of personal responsibility where you can control your own destiny by working hard and struggling through hard times to succeed. 5. "It's not my problem" Thai people like helping people and that is good but sometimes people need to experience "tough love" or they will never change there ways. Take for example a family member that makes horrible decisions with money but then is asking you for a loan or to bail them out of a jam. Just giving them money whenever they come calling isn't going to correct there behavior and it is just going to get worse over time. 6. "I want a shop or a business" That's nice but where is my shop or business why am I buying you one before I have one? Why am I buying you a house before I have one? Doesn't make any sense to do so. These are just a few examples that I could think of off the top of my head. So when you consider him to be "a stingy man" please try to consider this. If I want to rock up to a bar, ring the bell, tip the girls and have a good time then it's 'up to me'. If I am called a tight arse, sticky sh*t, mean or whatever, that is better than being a fool with my money. Hard to come by and easy to lose for those not sensible enough to hang on to their money. In the last 2 weeks I have been getting around and about a bit in my old haunts and chatting to the females in the bars I have known over the years. As always they ask where my woman is and when I tell them I do not have one the topic then turns to asking if I want them. Their prices made me laugh. One aged 47 and starting to look it offered me her services for 30K a month. Another asked for 20K a third even asked for 40K. And they were expecting free accommodation, food and to be taken out. That sort of money is better in my pocket thanks. Being a patient man and having some phone numbers from before, I get visits and promises of future visits and no cash involved, only travel expenses and food, drinks etc. They know I refuse to go crazy with money and knowing this has not stopped them from wanting to see me. The OP seems intent (at least twice a day) of posting in General something that he sees as new, edgy, controversial, interesting and depending on the uptake, could be a bit adversarial or a tad confrontational and run to several pages of pithy and earnest debate. Oh wait... However, as long as there are good eggs like Roo to promptly punt them into Pub (in lieu of a sub forum called Waste Bin), then we are moderately safe from the troll baiting, Thai bashing, vaguely misogynistic ramblings and other things that depressed, co-dependent people tend to get when they find themselves single in Thailand (again). Yes, attention seeking may be an issue here but there are physical risks too since you can easily dislocate a shoulder patting yourself on the back all the time. Plus there's always the risk of premature blindness related with other, more solitary activities. To the OP: you'll get over it soon. If last night's potential bed-partner snubbed you and said you were "kiniaow", she just wasn't good enough for you.
