November 3, 201411 yr Hello, I am currently in Phuket on a retirement visa.I will be starting work again soon and am told I need to leave the country and apply for a non immigrant B visa. Can anyone help me and supply options? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
November 3, 201411 yr You might apply for a conversion as explained below, but likely it would not be practical at all, as that is closer to Malaysia already. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/772236-new-locations-for-obtaining-non-immigrant-visas-based-upon-working-and-etc/
November 3, 201411 yr The problem with going from a retirement extension to one for working is getting the work permit application done. Most work permit offices will not accept the application if you have a retirement extension. You probably will have first need to get a tourist visa in order to apply for a work permit in order to get the non-b visa. The nearby embassies and consulates will not do a non-b visa without a work permit application approval letter from the Labor Ministry.

It also requires a work permit approval letter to do it. If he goes out for a tourist visa to get a the work permit application done as I mentioned in my previous post going to Hat Yai for a change of visa status might be an option.
