ubonjoe
If you are on an extension of stay you have to do it at your assigned office.
hotchips
I have non imm-O visa multiple entry and have about a month before I have to leave and re-enter. so I should be able to go to any office?
ubonjoe
You would need an address for the area where you apply. I can recall a report that Jomtien immigration in Pattaya doing one for a person from Bangkok that was on a tourist visa. Chaeng Wattana would not do it because you need be doing 90 day reports to them.
hotchips
Ok. Thanks. Think I might just go to aus embassy and pay the extra. Hopefully a document from them will be acceptable for getting Thai license.
Thanyaburi Mac
You might try your local ampur or thesaban office, the ID card section. I got such a letter at Thanyaburi a few years ago. Free, other than some fast talking, and explaining that it was too far to drive to Suan Plu and the Embassy was too expensive.... Mac
ubonjoe
You fortunate to be from OZ. They have the lowest consular fee compared to most other embassies. I think a stat declaration is on only 500 or 600 baht. The DL office will accept proof of address from the embasy. Some offices may want it translated to Thai. hotchips
Thanks Mac and Joe. Will try the district office first, followed by embassy if necessary.
