Lot Krathong in Bangkok - Where's Good?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I've been in Thailand almost a year and this will be my first Loy Krathong. Despite the curmudgeonly naysayers I very much enjoyed Songkran. And so in the spirit of embracing Thai festivals I wanted to find out people's opinions on where's best to go in the city to enjoy Loy Krathong. Currently I'm looking at Lumpini Park as its fairly easy to get to and is quite big and so can absorb the crowds easier. A lot of people are saying Asiatique but that place seems busy enough anytime so seems silly to go there for a festival? Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway guys as long as its easy enough to get to, and by that I mean accessible by boat and relatively close to BTS/MRT I'm all ears! :-)

Also I'm sure there is a similar thread posted somewhere on TV however I couldn't find it so decided to make my own for people looking for the same information.

Cheers & Happy Loy Krathong Day :-)

Benjasiri Park next to The Emporium is quite good & right at Phrom Phong BTS station.

Have a great night.

Thanks! You too :-)

Chatuchak Park at the end of the line- Mor Chit station is good also.

Don't go to Asiatique. I was last year. So many people, it is nothing less than a nightmare!

I just read on Coconuts Bangkok about Nagaraphirom Park. Anyone been?

Saen Saep canal.

You laugh, but it is convenient, surprisingly fun, and there are many people there.

The current is pretty strong so it is amusing to watch the krathongs whipping down the canal.

Just hold your nose.

Edit: I'll also cast a second vote for Benjasiri Park - it is very nice.

I remember Loy Kratong with pusscat at Lumpini Park
