Hi,

Can the experts on here answer my question please.

I have a non O/A multi entry visa which I obtained at the Thai embassy in the UK Nov 2013.

Entered Thailand 30th Dec 2013, passport stamped admit until 29th Dec 2014.

I know my first year can be extended as such to 2 years.

So here's my question I land back in Thailand on the 29th Dec 2014 the same day as the original admit until stamp....

Will this mean I'm eligible for another 12 month stamp,or as I enter on the same day (29th) will they say its expired ?

Hope I've explained myself, and thank you for any assistance....

No, your last day to entry on the visa and obtain 12 months is the date stamped "enter before" on you visa.

After that, and until the date stamped "allowed" until you most recent entry you will need a re-entry permit to travel.

After that "allowed until" date, a new visa or extension of stay.

On what date in November 2013 did you get your visa.? You have a enter before date on your visa that is the last day you can do an entry to get another one year entry that is one year after that date.

Oh no !!!

Thought I had this all worked out

But didn't realise its the Enter before date on the sticker that counts...

The Enter before Date is Nov 5th 2014...

Does this mean when I leave tomorrow to go back to the UK,I land back on Friday 21st Nov 2014..I'll just get a 30 day tourist visa all my hard work getting the retirement multi entry have gone up in smoke........

Please help.....thank you

I'm online if anyone knows and wants to pm me

Thank you

What is your current permit to stay date that you got from your last entry?

You can get a re-entry permit for it and then apply for an extension before the end of that entry when your return.

I last entered Thailand 17th June 2014, so git stamped 16/06/2015.

I have to go back tomorrow for z funeral, return to thailand Friday 21st Nov.

Are you saying I can get a re-entry stamp at the airport tomorrow. Then I don't understand about the extension before the end of that entry...sorry...

Does this mean I still have my retirement multi entry non o-a active.?

You can get a reentry permit at airport (arrive very early).

This will mean when you reenter Thailand they will stamp you on based on that ... until 16.06.2015.

You will not getting any new additional year's with your now used O-A.

Your new stay will be based on that reentry permit.

Next time you want to stay after that date, you need to apply for annual extension based on retirement at your local immigration office. Generally make the application about one month before the end of your permission to stay.

You will not need to get any new visa abroad if you do this, but you should plan to begin into the retirement extension system IN THAILAND.

Before I hadn't realized you had a current permission of stay to preserve with a reeentry permit ... so sorry about the answer before about starting over ... you don't need to start over with any new visa of any kind from abroad. I had thought your current permission to stay was 29 Dec the same day you proposed reentry .. so nothing to save there with a permit.

You a can get a re-entry permit at either airport in Bangkok 24 hours a day.

The re-entry permit will keep your permit to stay of June 16th of 2015 valid when your return.

You can get a single re-entry permit that costs 1000 baht or a multiple re-entry for 3800 baht. If leaving from Suv you will charged an additional 200 baht because they will do the form. photo and copies needed.

Gentleman, I would like to say a very big thank you for all your assistance, its really appreciated, would love to buy you guys a very large drink !!.

I'm not much of a drinker but I need a nice cold beer.

I'll get to the airport early tomorrow and get a multiple re-enter permit.

This will let me in and out until the 16th June 2015...Then I'll have to renew my multiple entry Non O/A retirement visa correct ?

You will need to apply for an annual extension based on retirement before that end date at your local Thai immigration office and prove financial qualification based on the rules FOR THAT. You won't be needing any new visa of any kind as long as you keep getting CONTINUOUS new annual extensions. These annual extensions are not visas and they are not O-As. The O-A visa is ONLY available from your home country and you don't need a new one.

You need to learn about the rules for getting annual extensions based on retirement in Thailand as perhaps there is something you need to do while abroad to prepare for that. For example if using the 800K method, the funds will need to be IN THAILAND for that.

You will apply for an extension of stay at immigration here in June of next year unless you decide to a apply for a new OA visa at the embassy in London.

That's a good point which is why I suggested he look into what's involved to apply for annual extensions in Thailand. The rules are not the same as the O-A. For example if he is qualifying based on bank account and doesn't want to import into Thailand, getting a new O-A might be the thing for him.

Sorry to bother you guys yet again !!......but I can't find a location for the re-entry permit office at the airport, read a couple of conflicting reports.

As this is so important I don't I want to go through immigration or passport control and find out the office is behind me and I can't get access.

Thank you

You get your re-entry permit after you check in for your flight.

The desk is located just before the normal (not fast track) departure immigration desks after you go down the escalator.

Did you manage to find the re-entry permit desk OK?

Assuming you did and that you're still on for a retirement extension of stay in due course after your return, you should note that the 800,000 THB needs to be seasoned in your bank account for at least 2 months prior to your first extension and 3 months prior to subsequent extensions, if you're using this method of proving finances.

Alternatively, if you're relying on the 65,000 THB monthly income method, details as to how you go about obtaining the necessary Embassy letter are set out at https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/301359/Publication._Pension_2014._Master.pdf In my experience, the Embassy's turnaround time for issuing such letters by post is 7-10 days.

Normally, you may apply for an extension of stay at your local immigration office up to 30 days before your existing permission to stay expires (i.e. from 17 May 2015 in your case). That said, a few offices (e.g. Chaengwattana and Jomtien) are prepared to consider applications submitted up to 45 days beforehand. In any event, the earlier you apply the better in my view - particularly as this will be your first application. You won't lose any time on your extension year by so doing.

Finally, it might be worth your while, if practicable, to obtain a re-entry permit at the same time as your extension of stay. That will then give you one less thing to have to worry about in the event of any future emergency requiring an immediate trip back to the UK.

OP - a couple of tips for your return on 29 December if you are still following this thread:-

(1) Write the re-entry permit number in the "Visa No." boxes on the TM6 arrival slip you'll be handed during your return flight. And maybe also write the words "RE-ENTRY PERMIT" to the right of these boxes for the sake of clarity.

(2) Check whether the Immigration Officer at BKK Arrivals has correctly entered 16 June 2015 as your latest "Admitted Until" date in your passport BEFORE moving away from his or her desk.

How long can one leave the kingdom WITH the annual extension of stay period remaining valid, is there an actual day figure for that?

I have to exit the kingdom for about 3-6 months.

I understand that if my outstay extends beyond the extension, it's back to 'Go' on the monopoly board...

Thanks.

You can be out of the country for as long as you want to. You just have to be back here to do another extension or you have to start all over again.
