Lifetime period Thai driving licences maybe revoked and replaced with period 5 year driving licenses

my wife has a lifetine licence, they are no longer available though. To think that they didnt even have to drive on a road to get it as well plus not having to answer any questions, no wonder they want to remove them and make these people re sit their licence.

I doubt they will have to do a resit, probably just a conversion and the regular tests we do when we renew our 5 yr licence. That should pretty much weed out those who should not have a licence. Actually, a lot should not be driving at all, but at least it would be a start. My wife has a lifetime. I'll go and break her the good news now laugh.png

Thais are the Worse drivers I have ever seen in my 40 years on the road bring it on and the test is a joke as well

You have obviously never travelled much then, try India, Nigeria or are few other places I could name, Thai drivers are not even in the same league

Try Greek taxi drivers on the Islands.

They do not know what breaks are or where its locatedlaugh.png

Nor do you. coffee1.giftongue.png

They are 6 years now, not 5.

Not that simple (as I tried to express in posts above!).

.

The expiry is on your fifth (5.) birthday after the date of application.

Assuming your birthday is Dec 15, 2014.

You apply on Dec 14, 2014 -> expiry date will be Dec 15, 2019 ("5 years")

You apply on Dec 16, 2014 -> expiry date will be Dec 15, 2020 ("6 years")

Honestly, I don't know what happens on the exact date. Guess it will be 5 years.

I changed from 1 year to "5" yesterday. My new expiration date is 19 Aug 2020. Equates to 5 year 8 month 28 days.

All relative to when your birthday falls relative to the issue date on your DL, they are still 5 year licenses but the renewal date can be closer to 6 years
