On a more serious note, ties must be the most useless item of clothing ever, anyone ever watch these old British or American movies from the fifties? Every single male adult dressed the same, suit, collar and tie, and a hat, and that was only casual wear.

Imagine when you are buying clothes, you had to copy everyone else. I wonder if in those days, there were denims, or casual shirts you could wear without ties, for sale in the shops, obviously not.
