Recently Married on Tourist Visa - Question

Featured Replies

I got married a few weeks ago. I am currently on a double entry tourist visa with the second entry expiring soon. I can usually extend this for 30 days.

My question is, as I am now married to a Thai, can I extend this for 60 days or does that only apply to those on non O visas?

I plan to get the non o from Lao when this tourist visa runs out so I am keen to get at much 'bang for my buck' before it does.

Any advice is very much appreciated.

Yes, you can get a 60 day extension.

Bring wife, her ID-card and household registrarion book, your passport, marriage certificate with you.

You can get the 60 day extension to visit your wife for any type of entry.

Your wife will need to go with you when you apply. You will need your marriage certificate and copy of it. Copies of your wife's house book and ID card. You may also need to show proof of residence.

You can also extend 30 days first for tourism, and then 60 more for visiting family. But you would be paying Bt 1,900 x 2.

Consider a multiple entry visa cost Bt 5,000, and can be made last 17 months, depending on your needs it may make better sense.

Great advice Paz. Thank you.

I think I will do that as I am too lazy to do the trip to Lao at the moment.

I may even have the 400k by that time, with a bit of luck.

(do you think I could extend the tourist visa and do the 60 day one simultaneously or will such common sense be too much to ask of officialdom?!)

Cheers in advance.

Not all offices will do the 60 day extension after getting the 30 day extension.

They certainly would not do both at the same time.
