Need a 1-Year Multiple-Entry Non-Immigrant Visa to visit child

Featured Replies

Need a 1-Year Multiple-Entry Non-Immigrant Visa to visit child,

90 day visa entry not really required,

Needed for short but multiple stays on a yearly basis.

USA passport and prefer not to travel all the way back to USA to get visa,

What Thai consulate here in Asia is recommended for this type of visa?

Penang would be my first choice i guess since I have been there before.

Is one Thai consulate better than another for this type of visa?

Cost is 700 usd if use Visa service but I can do myself for 200 usd with a trip to the consulate that is best for this type of visa.

Maybe with hotel and airfares totaled up it might be cheaper to use a visa service and DHL all required documents to them let them handle everything.

Thanks for your advise.

Are you the legal father of your child by way of marriage or legitimization?

Just your name on the birth certificate is not enough at most embassies and consulates.

un wed father,

yes to birth certificate

not thai legitimization thru court but do have positive DNA test used for usa passport for the child.

DNA test not notarized by thai ministry yet cost is 10k bht to do this i am told.

Just your name on the birth certificate is not enough at most embassies and consulates.

yes i have read this but heard of some that will accept just birth cert as well.

Is it possible to get a 1 year multiple entry Tourist Visa now a days?

thanks for the reply

cheers

There was a report by a member of getting one in Penang. If I recall correctly he showed that he had 150k baht in the bank when he got it. Normally they want to see 400k baht to do a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage.

whistling.gif As far as I know, there is no such thing as a "one year multi entry Tourist visa".

I don't believe, though I could be wrong, there has ever been one either.

Yu will have great difficulty getting a one year Non O visa any where in South East Asia.

Possibly you won't be able to.

Your best choice, if they agree to give you one, is to get a 90 day Non O visa, and then extend it for a year (again if they agree) in Thailand at your local immigration.

If you do get that extension, then purchase a multi entry re-entry permit which would also be good for one year based upon that extension you just got.

The multi-entry e-entry permit would allow you to exit and return to Thailand as many times as you wanted during the one year extension you received based on needing to take care of your child.

These days, the old one year multi entry Non O visas are becoming very hard to get ANYWHERE.

I, myself, got one in Hull in 2010, but with the new regulations, I would not qualify to get one today even there.

Note; if you DO get that extension, you will almost certainly need to do 90 day reporting at your local immigration ...... just like I do as a retiree.

Penang is your best regional bet. This thread should have all the details: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?/topic/754146-Multiple-Non-O-visa-run-Penang-for-visiting-family-success . USA also has several honorary consulates, but it may require a trip back there nowadays.

Try to get the name of the visa correct. Non-immigrant, category 'O' visa, multiple entry.

You say 'Needed for short but multiple stays on a yearly basis.'

How long is short stay, how long away and where to

would a 60 day tourist visa with a 60 day extension, (which i believe you can get with birth certificate with you named) and clever use of reentry permits, not do you.

ie 60 day entry , re-entry permit and then a 60 day extension

Legalization is not difficult or expensive and will place your and your child in the legal position to enjoy all your rights.
