Retirement visa, 90 day extensions and multiple re-entries.

Featured Replies

G'day gents, I have a non-immigrant "O" based on retirement but have been travelling a lot whilst organizing the sale of my company in Oz.

Initially I went through the grind of getting a re-entry permit from the Immigration Office in the field in Nonthaburi recently, thanks to a rushed trip, I got a multiple re-entry permit from the airport (after check-in and immigration) which was amazingly efficient and took less than 5 minutes from two very pleasant staff.

My question is: does my 90 days effectively "reset" once I leave and return or do I still have to report my address regardless every 90 days? What if I am out of the country when the 90 days becomes due?

Thanks for all input.

I think you have an Extension of Stay and not a Non O Visa.

The requirement is to report after 90 days of continuous stay.

So the 90 days start again when you return.

You do not have to make a report of staying longer than 90 days in the country if you are not here that long.

You make your report 90 days after you enter the country if you stay that long.

Correct terminology is much needed - clarification as to your actual status.

You may have started with a Non Immigrant Category 'O' Visa Multi Entry - this is not a Retirement Visa but can be used to change status to being on an Extension of Stay Based on Retirement.

Or you have have originally got a Non Imm 'O-A' Long Stay (Retirement Visa)

I suggest checking your Passport - date stamps and Visa stickers closely - read the fine details on them and sharpen you member as to exactly what you did originally and later on...

With better information I feel strongly that these folks here on this thread will be able to be you a much more exacting answer. otherwise they have to make assumptions as to your actual Visa / Extension Status.

When you do do your ninety-day report, I suggest that you do it by mail. It's so much less work than going into an office to do it yourself. I know that I'll be doing mine by mail in the future?
