Sponsored by a Thai?

Featured Replies

I find this hard to believe, but I heard the other day, that one can get a visa extension, if they are sponsored by a Thai, who puts up a certain amount of assets in security. Has anyone, ever heard of this? Doesn't affect me, as I'm on an extension due to retirement, and if needed could get a marriage extension. However for someone who can't qualify for either, it might be a way of getting an extension, if it's true.

Their is no such extension of stay like that.

As Joe said, no such thing.

Okay thanks, that's what I suspected.

That seems to describe what is done in Pattaya especially. The foreigner pays for the funds to be borrowed one day or two and to bribe a one corrupt officer at immigration to overlook seasoning requirement related to funds. Street cost Bt 15,000 and up, of course it's illegal.

"...puts up a certain amount of assets in security."

"That seems to describe what is done in Pattaya especially."

That doesn't sound anything like what the OP posted.
