Getting one year VISA

Featured Replies

Hi dear friends,

I got a tourist Visa for one month, I want to get one year VISA with multiple entry, how to do that, while Iam in Thailand

You will not get a one year visa in the country.

You can get a one year extension of stay at immigration if you can qualify for it.

On what basis would you qualify? Marriage, legal parent of a Thai, retirement. working and etc.

Iam intending to Marry a Thai wife, but not decided yet, we are discussing this matter

I got a tourist Visa for one month,

Did you get a visa at an embassy or consulate or did you just come to Thailand and get a 30 day permission to stay on a visa exempt entry? An actual tourist visa would give you 60 days, not 30.

If you arrived on a visa exempt entry, you can start by going to immigrations and getting a 30 day extension of that permission. Then you could travel to a nearby country like Laos and get a real tourist visa at the Thai embassy or consulate. A single entry tourist visa would give you a 60 day permission to stay that can be extended for another 30 days at immigrations.

So you would then have your current 30 days + 30 day extension + 60 day entry on the tourist visa + 30 day extension. If you were able to get a double entry tourist visa, that would add 60 + 30 days to the total. Maybe by then the decision to marry will be made and you can begin the process to obtain an extension of stay based on marriage if you meet the financial requirements. Even if you don't meet the financial requirements at that point you could manage a 60 permission to stay to visit your Thai wife.

To eventually qualify for the full year extension based on marriage you'll need either Baht 400,000 in a Thai bank or proof of income of at least Baht 40,000 a month, but all of that is only possible if you are actually married, not just thinking about it. There are more requirements including a non-imm visa or conversion, but it's too early to worry about all that.

ohhhhh, many many thanks,

Actually I got the Visa from Thai embassy, they gave me 30 days

I was planning to come to thai, then return to my country and come back again, that's why I asked for multiple entry....

Still I have my job at my country, I did not decided to remain in Thai or my country.... all these to be discussed in Thai...

So I need to visit Thai more than once in the coming few months...

Taking the Visa from Embassy is taking more than one month from me....

What country are you from?

Unless you are from a country that only get 30 day entries you should of gotten 60 days.

Actually Iam from Iraq,

No Thai Embassy in Iraq

We sent it to Amman- Jordan, through travel agency to get the Visa

I believe 30 days is all you can get with a tourist visa and also will not be able to extend for 30 days.

The only option you may have is to enroll in a language school to study Thai or another language and get the paper work to apply for a ED visa in Jordan. Then return, attend classes and get extensions of stay.
