We are looking for a one bedroom furnished apartment for a one month stay from 15 Jan to 14 February. My wife will be having surgery at Bumrungrad. We would like a place that is somewhat centrally located. The Riverfront Residence looks quite nice based on their website. We are willing to pay $1,000-$1500 US for our one month stay. Can anyone recommend a quiet, executive type building? Thanks in advance.

I can recommend Centrepoint serviced flats on Sukhumvit soi 10...a bit pricey for 2 nights but the rate will be better if you stay for a month. Studio type accommodation with a partition to allow a separate 'reception/living area'. Nice fully fitted kitchen (microwave, no oven) and a whirlpool in the bath tub. All the usual amenities, pool, exercise room and in room internet...excellent buffet breakfast in restaurant downstairs...

a classy joint...check it out...

The Ascott on Satorn Road www.bangkok.com/theascottsathorn This place is great and central on the skytrain line which has shuttle bus direct to the Bumrungrad hospital. My parents stayed here a few months a go and did not want to leave. Great restaurants...pool and all about 2 years old.

that can be a bit far ... time-wise from BH ... depends upon the OP's medical needs for the wife after surgery

'somewhat central' to WHAT exactly? Bangkok is a sprawling metropolis. Help us help you by narrowing it down for us...

Do you mean central to the hospital, or the river, or the city epicenter? Heck, I'm not even sure myself where the epicenter would be! :o

If you want to be near to Bumrungrad I'd suggest these [in descending proximity]

Majestic Grande

Conrad Residences

Jasmine Suites

Emporium Suites

and, if none of those float you boat, try this list:

BKK Post Serviced Apartment list

PS- The Victory is for folks budgeting half the OP's dosh

Actually, anything within reasonable walking distance (say 1 km) of a BTS or Subway stop would suffice. Closer to Bumrungrad would be best, but not essential.

I have stayed at the Riverfront several times.

They will rent to you by the week or month.

We actually rented 3 days at a time, coming and going between trips to Laos and Hua Hin.

They'll let you keep your bags stored there while you are between stays.

We rented their two bedroom apartment from them...very nice and clean.

Rooms have safes.

Kitchens too but we didn't cook much

Comes with a nice buffet breakfast Thai/Western food. You can sit out on the veranda and watch the ships pass by on the Chao Phraya River as you eat.

The pictures on their website are accurate.

We are planning another trip to Bangkok in November and plan to stay a couple of weeks on and off there again.

It's a little far from the SkyTrain but they have shuttle buses that take you there several times a day...pick up too.

Nice pool and weight room.

Not near any shopping so you have to take taxi if you want any nightlife.

There's a nice seafood restaurant called BUA by the river on the ground floor and some small Korean type shops too but not much.

If your wife is at Bumrungrad, your best bet would be one of two choices. Grand President on soi 11 does monthly hires from 40,000-60,000 a month, depending upon size.

Alternatively, try Chaidee Mansions at the bottom of the soi. The owner has several 1 bed or studio suite places to rent short-term and seems to specialise in Bumrungrad visitors. PM me and I will give you the owner's details and you'll be able to get a special rate too. You'd probably get it for around 40,000.

A third choice . . doesnt Bumrungrad itself have serviced apartments on soi 3? They look very flash from the road, so may be out of your price range.
