Tourist visa: Bank statement

Featured Replies

Hello,

I had been working in Thailand for about 3 years and came back to the Netherlands 3 months ago with my Thai girlfiriend. Her visa here is going to expire soon and she needs to leave the country. (and is unable to return for at least 3 months) We want to be together, but it seems like our goverments are doing everything to make this as difficult as possible. I also don't have 400k at this moment. I could of course borrow this from a friend and then apply for a marriage visa in 3 months. But that means that I can't see my girlfriend for quite a while.

Today I applied for a tourist visa at the Thai Embassy in the Netherlands.

The man at the counter requested a payslip from my employer. I told him that I work for my brother's company from time to time as a freelancer and that I don't have a payslip. He then told me to provide a bank statement. I told him that my bank account is practically empty and that I keep my money in cash. He kept insisting that I should provide the bank statement.

He also told me that I don't appear as a tourist because I just came from Thailand 3 months ago. I explained that I have friends in Thailand etc.

Any advise on this situation?

Well easy.put all the cash you keep in hand in your bank account, get a statement and get a turist visa. If that is not possible just go for a normal 30 days voa and then make a visa trip to Laos when the days are up and get a turist visa there.
