Kubuntu-3d Accelerator

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am currently "playing" with Kubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake) . So far i am quite surprised how well it works and the hardware detection is good too. Even got DVD to work...

Only one small issue. I am trying to get the 3d accelerator to work for Nvidia GeForce FX ...but not sure how . Is this working through adept too? which is the right driver if i go to Nvidias website? It doesn't specifically lead to Geforce FX...

Thanks for your feedback / advise,

rcm :o

You should be able to select the Nvidia display driver directly in Kubuntu and it should download the needed driver automatically.

I use Mepis 6.0, which has Ubuntu Dapper as its base. In Mepis it is under System Configuration> Mepis Utilities> Mouse and Display. The Mouse and Display screen allows for the automatic selection, download and installation of either Nvidia or ATI drivers. Kubuntu will have this, too, although perhaps in a slightly different location.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback ...i got my 'little ' problem resolved . it was found in adept at the "manage repositories" function , where i had to change "universe" to "multiverse universe " but not sure if this was all necessary now as i found this way my DVD codecs for Xine there too...anyhow it works and i am very impressed how well kubuntu works...

brgds,
