November 28, 201411 yr Go and get a TE visa then, for such a high roller Thb 500k for 5 years is not a big deal then No way : spending 500,000THB without having ANY guarantee they won't break the rule afterward? They haven't "broke the rules" with the more expensive TE programs to date as regards the visa options, and these have been in place for many years already Even if the Elite card went bust it would only mean you would lose the limo service and golf privileges etc. it wouldn't cost the Government anything to honor your visa.
November 28, 201411 yr These post always turn into one side against another and miss the real point of these posts sadly. Where the real problem is people look to these visa as there isn't a viable visa which suits their situation........ reality there are people who are under the age of 50 that are already able to meet retirement, with me being one of these people.Ive read many times there are the rules and people on education visa should not feel entitled to stay in Thailand. The same argument if your visa lets you stay in Thailand you should not feel a sense of entitlement also.Philipines have a retirement age of 35 which is much fair and promotes far more equality then the current visa system here.Im actually on a ED visa at the moment and it will expire next year, which i have no intention to renew as from what i have been informed by my school are going to be cut from 1 year to 6 months with a total study period of 1 and half years and no longer 3 years.I generally love Thailand and want to stay here, but what the fact is the uncertainty on and visa you are currently on is going to change at any point. People say TE but i won't invest 500,000 into a visa upfront when i could get married and become a wasted investment or i have to leave Thailand for whatever reason and again becomes a wasted investment. But ultimately same most people i can think of much better ways to spend/invest 500,000But the great idea i have........ retirement visa are dropped to age of 35, but make it a requirement now also as you are living here long term to mandatory take thai lessons and or being able to pass a test in thai. I for one want make my life here and have been learning thai as i want to and because i want to live here. Because its ironic some of the people "not all" that can speak only a little amount of thai are preaching to actual student who have a much larger thai vocabulary then them. November 28, 201411 yr Many countries tighten up the ED visa rules, because they get abused. Some of The a Digital Pikeys would be the first to complain about illegal immigrants and visa abusers in their own country.

November 28, 201411 yr no solution really, you going to have to either man up and meet the requirements for one of the visas or move on sucks but unfortunately thailand is no longer the visa push over it once was maybe finish your course, grab a double entry tourist visa then head to somewhere more suited your lifestyle like cambodia or philipines?

Excuse me CS it was never a visa push over until recently. When I came here you even had to have a tax declaration before you were allowed to leave the Country. No way to stay unless you had a biz visa or work permit for a single guy.

Actually that is my current plan as a double entry visa i think are my only option after my course finishes up next year, its sucks agree as i made a life here. furnished my house I've been living in 5 years. Invested time into friendships and people, which is not easy to throw away however much people say just live somewhere else. Not all us Education visa people are scammers. Some of us have an income and not working (I'm not a digital nomad) and just want to live here but as you said we have been living in the rules and now they keep changing the rules and rightly if cant stay here long term anymore i have been exploring my options. November 28, 201411 yr Popular Post What is amazing is that people on ED visas are complaining about having to study. Really couldn't make it up, and then you realise that they are habitual visa abusers and even give advice about working on a tourist visa Edited November 28, 201411 yr by mrtoad

November 28, 201411 yr Popular Post Here's an idea. Go and start a similar thread in The Pub and do all the banter there.
November 28, 201411 yr It is horrible when you have to study for your student visa. Good luck elsewhere. No need to be ironic: which kind of VISA do you recommend, if I'm NOT above 60? Elite Visa? I'm not fitting into ANY visa - I'm a perpetual tourist. BTW, I do not plan to marry a Thai (I'm using condoms). You say you are a tourist, and therefore I would recommend the tourist visa for you. The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
November 28, 201411 yr Rules are rules.does your country of origin allow unfettered entry and no visa regulations? If you don't like it well move n you're hardly like to be missed. i like many others have been here many years we comply with the law why can't or why won't you? The monies you talk about are far outweighed by the taxes I and many others who comply with the law here pay Oh a special case are you well in your own minds that is. In my country of origin things actually work and the government is not a joke. Strict immigration laws are just a facade to cover up the fact that nothing is taken seriously in this country, its just a bunch of noise. There is no point in pretending, take the money and let people stay. Edited November 28, 201411 yr by Kaalle

November 28, 201411 yr Disapointing to see how bad the thread turned. Pay your taxes, wake-up early, abuse of Villa Market, and take care of your Thai wife. That's all about life, isn't it? *unsubscribed* Not at all just very predicable in that the Ed visa abusers starting whinging how hard life is abusing their visa stamping their little feet and bleating on that it just not fair and they should be given special treatment.. In the thread I read OP just laments a price / hours increase on what he signed up for, without notice being given, causing him to have to uproot his life a bit. He was an actively attending student, not an abuser. Now he's voting with his feet by leaving and made a thread to inform others some rumoured changes has been put into place, at least for his school. But I get it you have deep-rooted prejudices, and just read what you want to read. He is not a student he called himself a perpetual tourist and digital nomad, and was complaining that he had to attend classes, so in my book not a student but abusing the visa system

You just hate the fact younger folks stand up for their rights but for you it is a sign of being soft. All your life you just sucked it all in and look at you now, all so bitter. My dear Timwin, you don't have any rights in Thailand as regards staying here permanently, your not in farangistan anymore where you have the right to burn your bra in protest The posts to date are not about rights, its about perceived self entitlement some people have and the belief they can do what they want in Thailand I have never sucked anything up dear boy, I have just learned how to play by rules/play the game, not bitter in the least, just take exception to the whinging little gits who are always bleating on about how its not fair... December 3, 201411 yr In Phuket now you need to study 2 hours a day minimum monday-friday and maximum length of study was 6 months then you finished can't get any more extensions! source (was down at one of the bigger language school today) That is quite retarded to believe someone will be fluent in 6 months, Am guessing a lot of languages schools will close now in Phuket..
