So to purchase a domain package from GoDaddy requires the purchaser to send copies of ID, PP and driving licence in full. Bank statement and copy of card used for payment. I preferred to cancel the purchase. Having used many other hosting companies without any furore , whats the problem with GoDaddy. I certainly am not comfortable sending copies of personal information such as this. Is this becoming the norm?

That's ridiculous.... What is your payment method?

Anyone with a CC or Debit card can get Godaddy service without this hassle!

I use godaddy with Thai address and this is new to me...

....also it is difficult to know what he is actually buying: a simple .com domain or some other 'domain service', whatever that might be. I have only simply purchased .com domain names through GD in the past. Maybe he has stumbled on to some bogus website.

I closed down all my godaddy accounts when the CEO was pictured with a gun, a dead elephant and a big smile on his face.

All of that crap is required if you check the box to register the domain with godaddy as a business entity. If you register it personally, none is required.
