How are the plans for that 'Man Up' school going?

Apparently, I need to enrol.

Indeed you do. There was going to be a whole semester based on you young Davardo.

Id rather watch paint dry as cricket, but then again it comes from an island nation and those lads have always been a bit off compared to people from Europe. I don't hold it against them they have many funny things over there. Must have been the isolation that drove them bonkers.

I don't think the Aussies can lay claim to inventing the game. I believe it's origins were in the 'other hemisphere' wink.png

Sometimes even you can get things right.

The only problem is, don't think Aussies learned how to play the game properly.........yet.

Said yet, so I don't upset you too much.

Never said they did.. the Brits exported it to those countries they either ruled or where colonised. Only countries with people who were not bored easy (like USA) because they had input from other European countries did not start the game.

But hey.. I mean we all got stupid things we do I lift weights.. not exactly exciting either.

You're a fool Costas.

The current ICC world rankings PRESENTLY 2/12/2014, has Australia ranked as follows:

One Day Internationals. Position 1.

Test Cricket (5 day). Position 2.

Twenty 20. Position 5.

Australia presently holds The Ashes.

Cricket Australia is presently wounded at the loss of Phillip Hughes who will be laid to rest at Macksville in NSW tomorrow. So please rest your flames as a mark of respect please.

Costas could be I to whips, not sure, I just know about his milking fascination, the gerbils, the badgers and so forth.

There is a rumor going about that he's even cross breeding the creatures.

I dunno. Ask Costas. I would never participate in spreading a rumor about a member held in such high esteeme by other badgerers.

I prefer "curling" at least this is an olympic sport!

I don't understand the quotation marks. Do you mean curling? I'm hoping I've got the European Final recorded. But I don't think any curling tournament I've seen has matched the sustained drama of the 2006 Ashes series.

Tours might be amazing and the social life might be a whirlwind of never-ending fun. It doesn't change the fact that the game itself is still, sadly, incredibly dull.

We can disagree, but there are a number of different formats to the game. I can understand some find the longer forms boring - I don't but that's me. I will happily watch 5 day games, and have been to many Test Matches.

Look at the other options

One Day International - 50 Overs

20:20 - 20 Overs

SixES - 5 Overs

That's just a few differing formats.

Costas read and you will be fully enlightened.

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out. When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game

Tut,tut...

Women play Cricket too!! The English Ladies are better than the Fella's at the moment.

Cricket is a fine game if one takes the time to understand it.

I'm 67.

Another 20 - 30 years for me to understand it?

Do you think I have the time?

Learn the fielding positions first.

Of course if the bowler is at the other end, these positions have to reversed on the chart accordingly, but not if you are viewing from the bowlers end then they remain the same. wink.png

Don't confuse him by showing more positions than fielders.

The Brits surveyed those counties using chains. One Chain being 22 yards long, a handy measurement for the distance between wickets.

and when you think of the bowlers he bated against, they were the best,

lillie, thompson,,,,,, holding, marshall,,ambrose,, they were all bloody great bowlers, and sometimes he just made them look silly,

most of the time going out to bat without a helmet, that sends a mesage to them strait away,, look im not botherd, give me your best,,lol

As an Aussie, I had respect for Ian Botham.

On the field when we played the soap dodgers, and later, off the field, when a bit more of his Character come to the fore.

Also the birthplace of sledging of which fast bowlers normally give thr most.

Glenn mcgrath (world class bowler for australia ) talking to Eddo Brandes (part time fast bowler from Zimbabwe who liked his beer).

Mcgrath :Eddo, why are you so fat?

Eddo :"every time I xxxx your wife she gives me a biscuit"

Probably the greatest retort to a bit of trash talking .

The greatest game with more tactics, nuances with bravery, team and individual endeavour. Love it

It takes a great deal of intelligence and class to understand the nuances of the great game. Hence 99% of septics can't follow it at all

we can overlook the canabis bit,,lol
