Bought a Garmin Nuvi 25i5 from the UK it arrived and I put in a SD card with Southeast Asia 4.5 on it, in simulation mode everything worked fine but when I went on the road was told go to highlighted route and then nothing from the speakers until told you have reached your destination but all the direction changes came up on the screen.

Contacted Garmin UK and they took the original unit back and sent a replacement, it arrived and same problem so contacted Garmin again and was told it is because the unit cant speak Thai names we cant help you although the same map worked fine on a Nuvi 1310.

Not happy so contacted the Garmin CEO who got someone from the escalated dispute department to contact me and they again said it is probably your maps but they sent a free City navigator map for download which they said would go to the SD card, it did not instead went to the internal memory and I tried the device and it worked fine. contacted Garmin again to say that it worked fine but I still needed to check what happened when the map was on a SD card they sent the download again and this time it went to the SD card. Tried in simulation mode and everything fine went on the road and again nothing from the speakers.

Spoke to Garmin again and they said we will contact Taiwan and see if anybody else has problem and get back to you and expect to hear in a couple of days. any body else out their had similar problems even with third party maps as that was what they tried to blame originally and I feel that they are just using that as an excuse on an item that is not fit for purpose
