My computer was the victim of a nasty virus attack last week and I would really like some advice as to my next move.

I think I downloaded an update beginning with the later L, sorry I forget the exact name, but the problem is my Avira virus protection has blocked any access to my USBs.

I have AGV. Avira and Spybot (the latter I installed post virus attack) and when I insert the USBs It appears as if the info is still there, ie the bar says how much space is still free, but on opening access is denied and it says the USB is empty.

Is there any way I can recover these files?

Thanking any advice givers.

Please define "access is denied". USB may appear empty because a virus set a hidden attribute to the files, enable display of hidden files in your OS and see.

I would think its the virus that is restricting access, not your anti virus.

Have you tried starting the PC in safe mode
