Could isis use buddhism and attract buddhists to do that or christians to do that? Only muslims can be brain washed in such a manner.

I think there has been a border post there for sometime, I noticed the crossing a few months ago when I was riding through the national park but i didn't follow the road all the way down.

I think Padang Bezar is pretty tame these days, compared to the booming disco's of Dannok, I remember Sungai Golok being more colourful 10 years back.

I have never seen that many Indians down in Narathiwat, its usually Chinese or Muslim Malaysians, the Indians seem to favour Dannock, Im guessing its an easier trek from the towns with bigger indian communities, like Alor Setar or Penang.

A small percentage of fools populate the world. Same goes for the Middle East. Why wouldn't an ignorant, penniless, powerless young Muslim man not want to join? Plenty of poontang, by raping the young women in the villages they maraud, plenty of cash from stolen oil, and selling these young girls into slavery, and the kind of power that comes from holding a machine gun to someones head, and having the power to decide whether or not to take their lives. Go back in history and you can find any number of mass slaughters based on arcane belief systems, but the common thread is the 'tribal instinct'. For better or worse, Islam is a far better branded form of monotheism (based on numbers) because it makes 'the brotherhood' sacrosanct, as opposed to more hard-to-swallow sacred notions like 'virgin birth' that some of the competing monotheistic brands use.

A lot of young recruits to Isis (especially new converts) don't really know much about the religion, but they feel strongly in the need to believe and be able to demonstrate their new-found faith to those who were born into it. They share similar psychological profiles to American teens who go on sociopathic school shooting sprees. IN fact, the Boston Marathon bombings showed a a merger between the two.

I don't think the situation in Sungai Kolok, or Patani in general, has the true hallmarks of a stereotypical jihad. I don't think Patani is a particularly fertile ground for jihadi recruitment since the historical (continuing to the present) grievances aren't so much based on religious differences as inequality, injustice, lack of the right to self-determination and preservation of the local culture.

In short, they don't need to go to the Middle East to find 'the enemy'. Quite often they are right outside their own doors, and very well armed.

Wrong. As is the case with all scripture, they are subject to interpretation. In reality, the Prophet was advising that self defense, or defending ones home and towns against invaders was encouraged. Not jihad. That is pure manufactured BS. Here is a gppd interpretation.

Insha'Allah, in certain Surrahs (chapters) of the Holy Qur'an, Muslims are told to fight those who have attacked them due to their religion in self defense. Further, we are told to fight our enemies as they have fought us; i.e., at the time of the revelation of these particular surrahs, both non-believing Arabs and members of certain Jewish communities in Saudi Arabia had been persecuting and attacking the new Muslim community. They had driven Muslims from their homes, had attacked them wherever they could find them, had imprisoned and tortured them, murdering others, etc. Muslims were told to fight these attackers as they had been attacked however, in these same surrahs, Muslims were also told that should their enemies sue for peace that the Muslims must stop fighting them and grant them peace. The Prophet Muahmmad (sallahu 'alaihi wasallaam) taught us to go so far as to grant them peace on thier terms! He did this during one of these conflicts and his own community was very upset however, Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala, caused the terms of the agreement or peace treaty to eventually work out totally in the favor of the Muslim community!
