Food Dehydrator

Featured Replies

Anyone know where to possibly buy a food dehydrator in CM?

I've already tried both Central stores (Kad Suan Kaew & Festival) as well as Robinson and the Bed, Bath, & Ban behind Airport plaza (I'm not exactly sue of the name). All with no success.

I'm thinking about Index but not sure.

Any suggestions would be great, thx.

I think I have seen them at Yok (2nd floor) on the Superhighway.

Many thanks, I'm heading there now to check it out.... Funny as a couple of my Thai friends just recommended Yok... I've never heard of the place before until they mentioned it.

Many thanks for the suggestion shepsel.... Yok did have them. I picked one up for 4k Baht.... Now hopefully my daughter will be eating a little healthier... dried fruit is better than chips any day.

... BTW, I've been here for nearly 6 yrs and didn't even know of that place... I think I'll be going back often... Thx again!

I can happily spend an hour in Yok, just walking around and looking at all the great things they have for sale, building up a memory bank for things I will need in the future. Normally I dislike shopping but not in Yok.

Yok and the iron mongers on the east side of the moat and those down Taipai rd are some of my favorite haunts. You can find things under other things that the owners have forgotten about where they were stored. Then the little storage rooms for small pieces are mind boggling. how do they remember and locate some of the stock, who knows.? the hired help just say ''no have''

many are able to use the sun for just that

just the amount and variations of sun dried seafood available here is quite staggering to me.

I bought this solar powered one this week and dried mangoes with it.

That looks cool. Do you have a brand name for it? I can probably hunt around Pattaya for it if I know the name. Cheers.

(PS: Shouldn't the trays be painted black to absorb the heat?)

Did they by any chance have a crock pot there. We called them a slow cooker back home. Removable ceramic pot for cleaning.

I had a dehydrator back home and was considering getting one here or bring one back with me. I came down with diabetes and was told that dried fruit would be a no no for me. I guess I could still make jerky.

I got a well made aluminum and glass sun drier from the Thai electrical company, EGAT, the people who provide your electricity. They had several sizes.

Crock pots or slow cookers can be found at most Tesco's the brand name is Otto. There are three sizes.....we use ours at least once a week.

Very curious about the dehydrator . Beef jerky would be nice to make.

Thanks for the heads up on the Crock Pots.

Beef Jerky is interesting as you can make up a sauce to suit your taste. I never tried it with Pork don't think that would work out but be worth a try.
