I tried but could not get the envelop to stay sealed. cheesy.gif

But in seriousness, I have seen a number of motorcycles in the delivery area of the local post offices. My understanding is that at the least, they need to be emptied of any gasoline. No idea how much it costs cheesy.gif but was told it was not overly expensive.

Its called "Logispost" and means that about everything up to 200 kg (and certain dimensions) can be sent from one post office to any other office.

You deliver it to one office and pick it up at the other office.

Price seems to depend on cubic capacity and distance (I have lost the link with details).

Typically between 1200 and 2600 Baht (for a 150 ccm scooter).

Funny video in Thai language about shipping a scooter:

At about 3:00 min the fool realizes that he can send the scooter as a whole and not in parts biggrin.png

This looks like a price table (no warranty):

Oops, I left out the price table (image) because it seems to show prices for destinations dependent on a specific location.

But the rule of thumbs (1200 to 2600) seems to be correct.

Logispost site in English:

http://www.thailandpost.com/service-detail.php?sid=9&service=395

The price list (in Thai) is huge !!!, 33 dense pages tongue.png

On page 13 there seem to be the prices for scooter transport from "zone 2".

Scooter up to 150 ccm: 1200 to 2400 Baht

151 to 400 ccm: 1500 to 3000 Baht.

"Big bikes" 3300 to 5100 Baht.

(10 different range/distance zones, each zone has its indivual table, very complicated)

I can't remember the cost, but it really wasn't much, five years ago when I bought my Yamaha Nuovo Elegance. I had the dealer in Bangkok send it to me in Ban Phe, Rayong province, through the post office. Just got down there, signed for it, and rode it to a close by place to get petrol. There was enough left in the tank to start and get at least a few hundred meters down the road.

General packages go by weight or volume (AxBxC = D/6000 = weight) whichever is greater. They now have logipost plus which is door to door although i dont know if this applies to motorbikes or just packages.

I never heard/read that you could get a scooter delivered door to door.

Practically:

here in upcountry post is delivered only by motorcycle (no trucks or cars).

If a package is "too big" for the motorcycle postman you still have to pick it up even if is only few kilos.

Yes, easy.

Just take to local main P. O.

You can wrap it, or they will.

Pay your fee and off it goes!

Must show ownership...greenbook.

I had a click posted from phucket to bkk 2800bht, i think the green book has to be shown but in my case i,m positive it was not the owner who posted the bike as the owner was already in bkk,

Anyway the posting the bike part went ok but the guy at the post in phucket must have been on the lao khao, he attached my keys with a cable tie to a yamaha and the yamaha keys to my bike, also when arriving at the post to pick the bike up i signed the paper they then presented me with an ninja 650,

After waiting 2 days for non arrival of my keys i called and told them this just was not on, they said come tomorrow morning and we will have a lock smith make a new key, took the guy around 40 mins to make a key which was ok as they have an eating area at the post so i had khao man gai,

Having the new key made cost 800bht which the post paid,

On exiting the post office car park the drunk post guy in phucket called my phone and said he was of the opinion i should pay half the cost of the new key =400bht as i did,nt wait long enough for them to find my key...i just laughed then closed the call, over a week later the bkk post office called and told they now had my original keys and asked me to come and collect them,

All in all what should have been quite a simple task for the thai post turned into a cluster <deleted>.
