SCBeasy.com has a new (security?) problem

Featured Replies

I added a new account to SCBeasy.com, the internet banking of SCB.

When I wanted to log in for the first time a small file "firstpage.asp" was downloaded and a pop-up asked me to save it.

I found that strange and called their call center.

They found it strange too, told me not to save anything, and try chrome browser instead of Firefox.

But that didn't help. Trying another computer or another internet connection didn't help forget.

Today i called them again. They told me Thai people have discovered this problem too, so yes, there is a real problem. They don't know what it is and they are working on it.

It's a misconfigured server, serving the generated source of the page with the wrong mime type - in short, not a security issue, just an annoyance and broken site.

I have seen this issue before with scbeasy when their servers have been down - http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/767291-scb-easy-login-problem/?p=8513213 - in that instance the .asp file contained an error message. You could try opening it in a plain text editor (notepad or textedit) to see if it has an error contained.

So i should just wait until they fix the problem, correct?

(They told me they just know the problem since yesterday and maybe can fix it today)

Yeah I'd wait, no matter what it is they need to fix something.

I just tested to see if the same happened to me if I logged in with the wrong username and password, but it did not - suspect it's likely to be new accounts as Crossy suggests, and perhaps an issue with their initial setup screen.

I have been having problems with SCB online banking for several days now

See these screen grabs which show that in Chrome the "commands" are not visible, so you have to guess. FireFox has no commands whatsoever So the only browser that works is IE 11 (the worlds most un-secure browser )

Very odd.. I use Firefox for SCB all the time, just checked and it's fine for me. Do you have adblock or similar running?

Many thanks for this post!!

I have been unable to access my account via the internet for some months now. I have been to my branch and they have mucked around with the settings and still no joy, so I have subsequently made my Kasikorn Bank account my "go to" account for online transactions.

I just tried your suggestion regarding the ad blocker and voila! I have access again.

I will still continue to avoid SCB online banking due to past poor performance - and the fact that Kasikorn have a very good internet credit card.

Yes, Adblock Plus, can't surf without it

Could well be that incorrectly detecting elements on the scbeasy page as adverts - I think you can disable Adblock on a site by site basis (and temporarily disable), might be worth a look - the screenshots you shared indicate that as a possible cause.

That was it, disabled all my ad blockers and now everything is back to normal in Chrome and FireFox, Thanks again

Get yourself a second wife who's got a functioning PC AND notebook. Problem solved.-thumbsup.gif
