Hotel with good internet in Vientiane

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a hotel in Vientiane which has better than average internet?

(i.e. better than the average 1-3mbps wifi which drops out sometimes)

Ideally I'd like a hotel room which has an ethernet port in the wall if possible?

Or maybe a hotel which has a business centre / private office space

Normally I use booking.com and will continue to search myself, although I figured it would also be worth asking members on here?

We will stay for 6 nights and prices on booking.com range from 5000-20000 for the week.

We are happy to pay the higher end if need be but I'm sure you'll understand, only if we actually get something for that extra $$!!

Thanks in advance

Why not take a True Move H card (iSmart). It is 699 Baht. 20-30MBps. 6GB data usage a month. You should be able to coverage from Vientiane.

Then tether the phone to the laptop. Or buy a USB 3g Adaptor?

You can get a signal from Thailand - I presume you can get data.

Else, the hotel next to the Bor Bpen Yang pub on riverside had decent wifi as I remember....

"Else, the hotel next to the Bor Bpen Yang pub on riverside had decent wifi as I remember."

I think you may be referring to the "INNER CITY BOUTIQUE HOTEL"

As I remember from last year, the wi-fi there was only so-so...Nice "Old style" rooms with great decor though.

For good wi-fi, you'll have to get find of the more modern and upscale business hotels. Reviews on TRIP ADVISOR should give you a good idea of wi-fi quality at any given hotel.

Thanks guys, time to investigate ripadvisor, normally I just use booking.com

The Lao Golden Hotel had pretty good wifi when I stayed there earlier this year. It's slightly out of the city, but within walking distance to the consular section of the Thai Embassy, just in case you are heading over there for a new Thai visa.

Rooms are around 900-1000 Baht per night, including breakfast.

There are plenty of better places, including the Chantapanya in the center of town directly opposite the national museum. They charge at least 400,000 Kip for a standard room these days, which is around about US$50 or 1600 Baht. Internet speed was OK when I last stayed, but can't say what it's like now.
