December 22, 201411 yr I was going to write something insightful or ask a deep and penetrating question but mostly those kind of things get locked or moved.. So instead i will ask the type of question that is allowed and seems to thrive on this forum. So instead of anything interesting worth talking about may I instead ask what strain of potato grows best in Chonburi?
December 22, 201411 yr A lot has been written over the years about spuds on tv,and most members say it is like try to push water uphill ,not easy ,most Thai spuds are grown north of CM,a bit cooler and less risk of potato blight and the 2 times I have tried in central Thailand ,I got leafroll and they died, on time the other, I planted them and that was the last I saw of them, never did grow, the "seed" where off the shelf from , Big C ,which I think did not help. We had some market spuds, to-night misses wrapped them in foil ,and baked them over the charcoal stove ,they were just OK, but what variety they are I do not know, from past experience, there is no skin on them no need to peel them,so I would say they would be a second early?,not a main crop, and a yellow flesh, would almost make them a manufacturing chip potato( I use to work on a large arable farm growing spuds on contract, to McCains, the variety was Record, a very yellow flesh, only any good for chips would not boil ,bit like Thai spuds) You could try car tyre way ,plant them in a car tyre as they grow keep adding soil and tyres, so no more than 6-10 inches of the plant are in view, some say that works. You ask what's best ,I would say what you can get hold of or find, that is if any one know 's about potato varieties. Regs KS
