Should I wait until the day after Xmas to buy an ipad?

As with all premium products there's no such thing as sales. Older versions will become cheaper when usurped by newer models but that's about it.

Otherwise, look at the second-hand market, though, be warned, Apple products hold a high resale value. I know, as I regularly update and sell my castoffs for at least two-thirds of the original price.

Just bought a new 60gb iPad2 with WiFi, retina display and 3G for 20,000 THB )one year international guarantee) for someone near and dear.

With the Cloud you don't need much more storage.

The reseller had discounted it when the newer model came in last month and seemed to have little to do with Christmas.

Khun Nearndear is as happy as a clam.

Bad exposé on working conditions in China for Apple on the BBC ..and tax avoidance in every country...would u buy any product from a company like that ...

Economics 101: Businesses don't pay taxes, they raise the prices of the products to pay the taxes. So the consumer ultimately pays the tax.

So any time a company can avoid taxes, it's a good thing for the consumer, shareholders and sellers.

SO I just went to the ATM outside of Central, planning to go to iStudio, Banana IT, or Jaymart, which all carry the iPad Mini 2. Withdrew the 17000 baht it would cost me. Went into each of the stores and they don't have the 32GB model—the one I can afford, and the one I want. Apparently they only carry 16 and 64 GB. huh.png

Any of you (fellow) Apple geeks know where to find a 32GB model? I have this wad of cash I want to get rid of...

I suspect that everyone else wanted the 32GB model, just like you. it seems to be the best capacity/price point.

Apple don't make a 32GB iPad Air 2. I'm certain a previous poster mentioned this.

If you know the price pre-christmas you might be able to save a few baht somewhere

But I have noticed stores in Thailand typically raise the prices then offer a discount to make the price the same as it was pre-sale discount

I find the best place to get true savings is on sites like lazada or invadeit

Saw ipad Mini Retina in BKK, 10.400 thb, black, 16Gb, wifi only.

These used to be 13.500 just a month ago.. So I guess new model is coming soon.

8 inch Retinadispkey is super nice.. But I am firmly in Android camp.. Sony displays are finally catching up, and Samsung 8.4 Amoled beats Retina.

But if ipad is what you want, and there's no need for 3G, it is amazing displey, and 10,000 is very low price for this thing.

Apple's memory storage policy and pricing are truly insane.. 16Gb is really not enough for most people.. Unless all you do is use it for web browsing. But going for 64Gb and 128Gb prices become a joke!

You know how much a Sandisk 64Gb memory card cost? Around 1200 baht for a high speed, quality card. But what does Apple charge, if you opt for 64Gig model? It is ridiculous, and that is another reason to stay away from all Apple stuff.

They are well made, and design is great.. But their memory pricing makes me never buy an Apple product.. Used to own several ipod, but at the time in 2004 there was almost no alternative.

Also, I would never buy a tab or phone with no SD card slot.

Well, this simple question elicited quite the conversation...

After spending 30 minutes on the phone today with various retailers, none of whom carried the 32, I walked into Central LP today, asked if they had a 32gb in space grey and cellular, and walked out with it in hand (I also paid of course). It seems Central carries a different inventory than the little-box stores, for future reference...

Does it ever feel nice to be back using the fantastic iOS instead of the blown-up mobile phone OS from Android. I'll be getting lots of work done.

but what model did you get, I suspect it was the old model that did come in 32 gb. The new model mini doesn't even come in a 32 .

How is Android blown up in any way, please? And what is the work ipad allows you to do, that Android tablet does not?

They are very similar in every way.

Imagine grown man, owner of LG refrigerator shouting with joy, how much his fridge is better than Samsung fridge. Thats exactly what avid ios fans and android fans do.

Tablets are simple devices, both ios and android do what you tell them to do. It comes down to personal preference, both op systems are equally good

I got the iPad mini 2 with retina display. Best bang for the buck. The new iPad mini 3 is hardly worth the extra $$ just for the fingerprint scanner. My sister has one and she prefers the old passcode unlock, says it's faster.

I prefer iOS because it's clean, integrated, and enhances my productivity. Of course, to each his own.
