DIT checks products price in national discount campaign

BANGKOK, 24 December 2014 (NNT) – The Department of Internal Trade (DIT) has conducted a field observation for goods retailing price under the national discount campaign and found no factors that would push prices up.


The DIT’s Director-General Boonyarit Kalayanamit today visited a 7-11 convenience store in Chaengwattana to check out the new pricing of products under the ‘Give all the heart, bring back the happiness as the New Year’s gift’ national products discount campaign on 24-30 December 2014.

He said that this campaign is the cooperation between the Ministry of Commerce and the business sector to provide up to 80 percent discount of products in shopping malls, wholesale stores, and convenience stores nationwide.

Discounted products featured in this campaign comprises of products used in daily life, groceries, and electric appliances. Products on discount can be identified by the blue gift box with ribbon logo that come with it.

He cited the Thai Wholesale & Retail Trade Association has estimated a circulation of 50 billion baht during the entire campaign. This figure will push to the entire year’s trading volume to 900 billion baht.

The DIT’s Director-General also mentioned that there are still no indications for the increase of product prices as no company has requested the price adjustment.

The Director General of the DIT said the department closely monitoring the fuel cost factor, which they will discuss with business owners if the fuel cost affects the production cost in an attempt to keep a reasonable pricing range for the products for public.
