OK landed back in AU yesterday. Have everything I need for non imm O-A except medical certificate. Just got back from quack and she wants blood tests and this and that. Takes about 10 days. Don't have enough time. Has any member had a different experience with med certificate. Yes I know I can obtain a non imm o but have done all the other jazz except for this.

Well, the "medical examination" I underwent for my OA visa application in the UK 6 years ago merely consisted of the quack's eyes moving from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. Still cost me £10, though.

Simply look for another doctor.

This is the correct answer. I took the form in to my doc and had it signed by the time I left the appointment.

If the first doc won't, another will.

The doctor i went to just looked at me and signed ... not in Australia. As I recall it was for things like TB, leprosy and 3rd stage syphillis or something along those lines. Can't you go to a doctor or clinic or hospital that you've been to before? Unless you have great chunks of flesh falling off or suppurating sores I would think most reasonable doctors would be willing to make a leap of faith.

Similar bloodwork here in thailand is done in an hour... Maybe you can pay for a quicker service elsewhere, naturally this is low priority - maybe there is a private option.

The five conditions are leprosy, elephantiasis, drug addiction, stage 3 syphilis, and tuberculosis.

There is no test for something as vague as "drug addiction".

Leprosy and elephantiasis are self-evident.

Stage 3 syphilis is diagnosed by the presence of otherwise unlikely diseases, e.g. an infection in the brain.

So, the only test that is worth conducting on an apparently healthy person is a quick blood screen for TB. If a doctor insists on doing that, perhaps it's best to play along. Might be worthwhile anyway for someone who travels in Asia. But, if they insist on doing more, move on to another doctor.
