French man found hanged in Koh Tao with his hands tied behind his back – foul play suspected

Reminds me of a headline in the paper in Kenya a long time ago.

"Man found shot in the head 9 times, suscide has not been ruled out"

I would guess people who are murdered then staged to look like suicide happens more times here than we'd like to think. RIP.

Why would they leave the hand tied....dead giveaway....

Sending a message. 'We are still here'.

[stupid complacent tourists will just keep on coming anyway.]

STOP! with the Burmese jokes for God's sake.......any Idea how stupid you come across as being?

It may seem unlikely that his hands would be tied if it was a suicide but it really isn't that strange or uncommon

The idea is to tie their own hands and it only needs to be loosely because the rope used is behind their back

They stick there head through the noose jump and the rope, even if it's only dangling behind their back, prevents them from reaching the rope above.

Sad that someone would resort to this at such a young age

RIP

Yes of course, and there's another kind of suicide... 2 or 3 bullets in the head...

To all the foreigners visiting or living here in Thailand just please be careful not to bump-heads w the locals.I grew up here and I've visited almost all places in TH(part of my job too).I can speak Thai and honestly I never had a prob w them but then again I'm Southeast Asian too. They just don't like foreigners who disrespect them in their own country no matter who they are or what they are.

Just please avoid getting in a fight w them. That's the first rule to keep in mind when coming here.

And by 'disrespect' you mean for example shout in anger at a Thai person who just blatantly ripped you off or tried to do so ? Just wondering, because I believe that's what most Thais would consider as disrespect.

There was also a man found inside a locked suitcase which was found hung from the end of a pier in Naklua some years ago. The B.I.B. declared it as a suicide!

They reckoned it was a open and shut case..

The real question is how they found out that the name of the door was Dmitri.

"The door to the man’s bungalow, later identified as Dmitri."

Wasn't there a case of a couples' headless bodies found floating near their yacht a couple of months ago and the BIB initially wouldn't rule out a suicide pact?

These cops are something really special...... clap2.gif

Let the investigation take it's course. Thailand is not rife with serial killers or gangsters, most of them come here on the plane.

My thoughts exactly .... Frenchman named 'Dimitri' eh?

Also this most possibly has nothing to do with the B2 defence lawyers having reserved a 'key testimony' for a frenchman, or how was it?

Thailand is rife with at least mobsters, gangsters and scammers... serial killers are an American thing.

Most coming in on the planes are tourists.

They also found two wounds on his arm on elbows. The wound is 5cm and 3cm in length respectively.

Sounds suspiciously similar to the short knife stab woulds in the other recently well publicized case, doesn't it?

Everybody just quit visiting murder island..........

I would guess people who are murdered then staged to look like suicide happens more times here than we'd like to think. RIP.

If it was staged to look like a suicide you would think that the murderer would have at least untied his hands before leaving

Hopefully there are some migrants living nearby.

Perhaps to warn the others? Who knows? But what many will wonder is whether there is a protected person who is a serial killer in Koh Tao. As long as such a person were to stick to killing falang, no one there is likely to do anything to stop him.

I think this is the most probable explanation. They knew the true story would get around the island, but expected the police to be able to pass it off as suicide. The photo of the hanging body was never supposed to leak out. Someone was very brave, and I hope he/she cannot be traced for his sake. Once this hits the international press (and it will) they are going to have a hell of a job controlling events.

Very very true. Wish the Thai government would just grab them as they enter. In the long run they would make more money on bounties then allowing them in and running amok.

Let the investigation take it's course. Thailand is not rife with serial killers or gangsters, most of them come here on the plane.

Carrerakiss post # 94.

I am not surprised that the news about the tied hands took a while to come out. It clearly makes it more likely to be foul play and that doesn't sit well with the current official policy that Thailand is safe for visitors.

What does surprise me is that the BIB didn't just untie his hands when they found him. I'm not sure whether to give them credit for being honest, or deride them for being stupid in messing up a cover up.

They (the police farce force) have never considered the power of the social media and of course the vile stench that emanates from the murder investigation concerning Hannah and David.

Bully boys in the past have always been able for a fee to conduct a successful investigation..

Now the effluent has met the fan, the spread factor it seems is extremely large, thus it is spreading far beyond the borders of Koh Tao and Thailand itself too .hit-the-fan.gif.pagespeed.ce.6UelFDbFNJL

Broaden your horizons, why don't you?

When I read thbis "KOH TAO: -- At around 3pm in the 1st of January 2015 police and rescue teams were called to a bungalow on Koh Tao where the body of a 29 year old French murder suicide Koh Tao man was found hanging from the ceiling of his rented bungalow."

It seems pretty clear to me. The poor chap murdered himself and then committed suicide out of remorse.

Clear as mud.

Not to make light of another tragic murder on Death Island.

RIP young man...

Should really be described as common sense. Not liking being disrespected by a foreigner in your own country is a character trait not exclusive to the Thais. However, it is how it is handled. It is more often than not about business, women, traffic etc. I was recently at a holiday resort in the far south of Thailand frequented by a lot of young backpackers. If they could understand Thai and the way the young local Thai men spoke about them they would be horrified. Especially the women. I was shocked and disgusted and found it hard to keep my mouth shut. But I did. For the very reason you state here. Self-preservation

Unfortunately understanding Thai is a double edged sword, as I find out every time I go outside.

'Why hasn't he gone home yet?' is the phrase I am hearing most now. This from strangers who have never set eyes on me before. Then the curt 'funny' remarks to friends, and the insults which just seem to come out in the same uncontrollable way a cough or a sneeze might.

The island chain has always had a dangerous side to it. Think that perhaps now the foreigners are getting a hint they who cause problems are not welcome here ?

He must have been very determined to suicide, it must have taken hours to even get the noos over his head without using his hands. Nonetheless Rest in Peace

The Sea Trash that run these islands are a law unto themselves. I have no idea why people seem to think any of it is safe.certainly not an area I will ever revisit.

It can't be the two Burmese who our Dear Leader says killed the two Brits because that police investigation was "perfect" and "complete". Those two 'killers' have an alibi even the BIB can't alter.. How long will it take for the BIB to locate two new Burmese?

There is a news article that was recently discussed where a french man could identify the killers of Hannah and David do we read anything into this maybe the mafia heard about the news article and thought this was the person.

Nuke that island from orbit. feral scum won't be missed.

Yank?
