Rent DO NOT buy until you have had a good chance to see what it is like. Best thing is not to be close to the family. Further away the better or you will be the sole provider for a lot of the family.

We have a 2 rai plot on the Pai river at Huay Dua next to the boat landing where tourists board the longtail boats to go down river to view the Karen village and the long necks. Used to do a lot of white water rafting up there years ago and there are views over the river to the elephants roaming on the other side. It's about 20 minutes from Mae Hong Son down river in a quaint village where no one locks their doors. Want to sell now I'm getting old.
