Thousands protest anti-Islamic rallies in German city

BERLIN (AP) — Tens of thousands of people are protesting in the eastern German city of Dresden against racism and for an open society.

The protests Saturday came in reaction to weekly anti-Islamic demonstrations that have been taking place for months in Dresden.

The weekly rallies are organized by a group calling itself Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West, or Pegida. Those rallies have been attended by up to 18,000 people, but Saturday's counter protests mobilized more than twice the crowds — around 35,000 protesters.

Police and city officials couldn't immediately be reached for comment, but German news agency dpa reported Dresden mayor Helma Orosz telling protesters that their city "won't be split apart by hatred."

Chancellor Angela Merkel had previously called on Germans not to participate in Pegida rallies.

I hope this isn't going to be a case of divide and conquer, where all the gentiles fight among themselves while Islam slowly gains control.

I have absolutely nothing against Islam, but they do need to learn to live their own life and stop living everyone else's life.

I don't know about their God, but my God is probably strong enough to take care of himself.

Multi culturism has resulted in some of these countries in Europe losing control within their borders. Solution ( the only solution) : Starting with the no go zones the army and security services in various countries round these people up, revoke their passports and put them on a boat back to country of origin.

This is equivocation and shifting responsibility and somewhere, some way, in most of their statements, the "condemners" usually do this.

It's everything to do with the attacks in Paris, or the ones in London, Madrid, Glasgow, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Frankfurt, Toulouse, Montauban, Brussels, Dijon, Nantes.

And they're just the ones in Western Europe.

There are some things that should not be tolerated. They are violence, hatred and intolerance.

It is coming from people who preach and practice this in the name of Islam.

This is what should be eradicated. Protests again this is important.

I lived in Northern California for a long time. To me, it seemed like Hispanics wanted to blend it with the rest of the country and it did not take long to do so. It seems like many Muslims in Europe want just the opposite.

Multiculturalism doesn't seem to be working out as well as Tony Blair predicted. Fine in theory, but no one seems able to make it work in practice. Human nature, religion and bloodshed keep getting in the way.

I think you need to wake up! Paying lip service to extremism after the fact or before the fact is just that.. lip service. Until muslims stand up and report radical clerics and their followers to the police it means nothing, less than nothing in fact. This will never happen.

These rallies will contain people who are "anti islam" just because they are the "other;" these mixed protests always have such extremes. However, the vast majority simply oppose islam being at cultural and armed war with everyone because everyone else are the "other" to islam. In fact, Islam has a rich, highly developed ideology and blueprint which even defines the "other" and spells out what things should be done to the "other;" Shar'ia. In fact, this blueprint binds those who are not even muslim to its authority. Indeed, the entire formula for practical, orthodox Shar'ia is built solely upon the division of classes in a divine chain of being- from muslim, to muslim wife, to dhimmi (christian and jews who pay the tax- and "are made to feel subjugated and humiliated when paying the tax"), to slave, to the pagan dead. Without this formula shar'ia is fractured and impractical.

Most of these people this OP titles "anti islam" see the writing on the wall- intolerance, murder, mayhem, divine mandate, hatred, blasphemy, and every other manner of barbarism colored as demands for equality will consume their nation (immigration jihad). "Shar'ia" is objectionable because it is entirely predicated on submission!
