Cheaper place to live than Bkk, and have a beach?

You are going to have to prioritize kid.

I hate to say this, but I think Pattaya is probably the best option.

Best gyms and best gear. Food is relative and buying in bulk at fresh markets is best. Beach...not so good, but probably adequate.

Cost wise...much cheaper than Ekamai.

Lot's of big guys down there. Will probably make you look like a skinny 12-year old boy, but plenty to aspire to.

When you say best gear, do you mean best steroids?

Why would they be better there?

I do not see how food is more expensive than in USA unless people in USA have it really good.

I am from Canada and the chicken you buy at big C (boneless chicken breast) is between 30-40 baht. The same quantity costs me 300 baht in Canada and that's when it is on special or in one of those Chinese stores. Surely Canada is not that much cheaper than US

That being said, I'd say Pattaya too. Nothing wrong with that place.

Yes.

Because there is a lot more demand in Pattaya than most anywhere else in Thailand, and the pharmacies cater to the demand - so variety, availability and price is better.

riorobc023 Ban Chang, Its a delightful small town IMO, as people have mentioned Patatya has good gyms & is only about 30-40 minutes away (depending on the Suk road traffic) & if you don't work out twice a day is very doable. Nice beach area with eating along it, even closer to Rayon for shopping. Small farang nightlife area (The Thais have named "Sex Street") & a local Tesco supermarket. A good size (small) ex-pat community

& lots of Elephants

Judging from the posts of the op he can probably live on a thirth to a half of the costs he is living now as long as you shop in local markets where you get better quality for 1/3 of the price and move out of ekamai. Try to get the same apt as you have now somewhere around klong teuy market and youre settled.

For the OP, If u live near Ekkamai just move further out to Onnut, there is a good market behind the road opposite Big C, its cheap and clean lots of ppl buying there farangs too.. I moved to phuket from bkk coz not far from beach and close to nature, air very clean... Life is same as cheap here if you cook for yourself and know the ways around just need a motorbike... wai2.gif

I find that many articles are cheaper at Macro than in the market. For example chicken brisk (for our dogs and Thai neighbours): 30 in the market, 24 in Big, 18 in Macro. Stuff in the market is of varying origins and DOESn'T HAVE FLIES.Meaning that it has likely been sprayed with something like formaldehyde.

I saw once in a market a guy direct spraying the meat with insect spray.

What market? Macro?

western concept of a beach can be had in farangistan. thai concept of a beach is something totally different. in farangistan i would frequently spend time at the beach. in thailand it is something i avoid.

Ban mai sok som kob.

No gym, steroids that shrink your nackers, or beach, but the foods cheap. You could eat your 6 chickens a day for 107baht.

An acquaintance became addicted to steroids. Cheap and easy here. He was ignorant of the downsides of looking like a freak, and drank weed killer at the age of 44. Go for it ... blink.png

Cha Am or Rayon....First one very close to Hua Hin and BK, the second one very close to Pattaya and BK....but both with a lot lower cost of living.

In Cha Am in 2012 I found a a nice, 2 stories, 3 bedrooms furnished townhouse, 1/2 block from the main beach, renting for 5000THB. Similar values in Rayon Beach. Nice beaches only busy on weekends with Thai families, deserted on week days. The best fishing spots close to BK.

Saw a huge rat n the market couple weeks ago and the meat on him looked more edible than the junk they were selling on the tables. Gross all around really!

Cambodia, or consider dropping the whole BB thing and going cardio. You'll feel better not only for the fitness but not having to consume all that mass everyday. I'm no tree-hugger, but our intestines just weren't made to have to work like that.

ekami is expensive, move to on nut or banglmapu for cheaper accommodation and still near facilities or i'm sure anywhere out of the centre of bangkok would be cheaper though i'm not familiar with those areas or the facilities available

Well, find the right places and Bangkok can be as cheap as anywhere else, but no beach to speak of. If you want a beach try Hua Hin, but its even more expensive than Bangkok. The thing is Thailand is not a cheap place anymore. Compared to say the Philippines. In fact it can be an expensive place. I got out 9 Months ago, for the Philippines and havn't looked back. And everyone speaks English....its a no brainer mate.

I think you need to get a life mate or a good woman If your whole life revolves around a gym. Thought about oragamy or knitting ??

Hop on a bus. Go to Pattaya. Rent a m/c. Spend a few days and investigate. Quite large apartments with pool available on dark side. Not so far to gym. Some distance to beaches. Check out Jomtien. Close to so so beach. Should have gyms. Ban Amphur 15 km down highway. Good beach, no idea about gym. What I find fun about Thailand is the finding out for yourself ... try it.

And in Thailand everybody (the Thais) speaks Thai. That was a no brainer too..I want to communicate..I learn the language. I haven't looked back.

I disagree about Ekamai being one of the most expensive parts of Bangkok but it's certainly not one of the cheapest.

Why not try living further out, Udom Suk etc you won't struggle to find a room for 4k a month. For food no wonder you're spending so much if you're buying all your meat at Tesco/Big C, have you tried going to Klong Toey wet market on a night time/early morning? You'll pick up meat a lot lot cheaper than in a supermarket

Geeez what a boring life just body building and No girls and no partys why goto LOS in the first place and complain its too expensive bloody hell.

If, and I say if, the OP is an overmuscled freak, he won't need to worry about girls, unless he is very rich, which does not seem to be the case.

You should come and visit Prachuap kiri khan. Beautiful beaches, Great gym facilities, + free access to all the sport complex, tennis, etc..at beautiful ao manao bay. rent a house in prachuap for 5000+ and sea front around the 10 to 15000 figure. border and immigration 15 km away!.and not yet too many tourists..It is still Thailand best kept secret!.Ideal place for quiet peoples or families..Thanks god, no noisy bars and what goes with it... I live there and I've found my paradise on earth.. Feel free to contact me for more info.

Rayon beach, is that near Polyester Point and Lycra heights?

I would think the OP would be looking into places like Prachuap, Chumporn, Nakor Sri Thammarat, Krabi (main land). All fairlyp opulous (except prachuap), must be a gym with decent free weights etc in any of those locations.

Further down the coast line from Cha-am you'll find Chumphon & Langsuan. Cracking beaches and just about zero farang tourists so proper Thai prices
