Same with Norwegian KRONE , 6 months ago it was 5.30 THB for 1 NOK , now we only get 4.20 . Bad news for all the retired people living here receiving their hard earned pensions . Lets hope it will turn around soon .

Dollar only headed higher. Fed will not, cannot lower rates, cannot QE as its be propagandizing about low unemployment and better economy. Most of all it would force the world to further currency debasement. Peril for Swiss and German bonds.

3,50 is the line for staying there I stay. Have to find a cheaper apartment to stay.

If the SEK goes under 3,00 THB, than there is no hope left to survive here.

But something makes me confused .

When the people empty their Bank Accounts, what do they do with the money ?

Gold price is still going down. That's very confusing.

I don't have money left, but if I had some probably I should have bought some gold.

If the people don't have money left , than WHERE IS THE MONEY LOADED ?

Probably in these 80 rich peoples pockets. They own the World.

But I think WE ARE MORE HAPPY THAN THEM.

I hope we can manage some more years in Thailand and keep being happy to see smiling Thai Women.

As I'm writing this the exchange rate is 3,86. Any physical exchange office or local bank is gonna charge you at least 10-12% in exchange fee. You should get a credit card with decent rates, Bank Norwegian charges 1,75% and ICA Banken is pretty good as well. (and remember to never let the bank handle conversation at ATMs)

That said, Thailand is still cheap for Swedes. Way cheaper than any euro-country.

As for people complaining that Your government doesn't care. Why would they? Expats are not contributing to their home countries economy in any way. The only government who who has any reason to care whatsoever is where you are currently residing.

I know a weaker currency is not fun but it's not worth killing yourself over. I have lived on 100 baht per day in Thailand and I didn't die. The dark storms will pass eventually.

If the XE Currency Converter writes 3,86 THB for 1 SEK, it doesn't mean that you get it in your hand.

How much do you get in your hand after exchange is important.

If I send the money from SEB Bank to SCB in Thailand , I get 3,77 THB for each crown in my hand.

If I have cash and go to a bank in Thailand, I get about 3,70 THB in my hand if the XE is 3,86.

Since March 2014 has SEK been going down constantly THAN SEK WAS 5,09 THB.......

SO IF YOU DIVIDE 5,09 WITH 3,86 WHAT DO YOU GET. YES YOU GET 1,32 ..... WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ?...

1- If you multiply 3,86 with 1,32, you get 5,09 . That means 3,86 has to go up 32 % to reach 5,09.

25 % it's down, but it's another way of looking at it.

2- Ok, that is not correct, but what does it matter 10 months or 4 months ago, it's going down that's the most important. Maybe that's why I got so many answers.

When you are young weeks days hours are important, but now it doesn't matter so much.

3- There are separate houses near the beach of Koh Lanta and many other nice places, Quite and fresh air but expensive. If you prefer big city ok for you. But everybody can not live in a big city.

Wow, I was there 5 years ago. The food sucks. The girls look like trannies. The climate at 5000 feet altitude is OK, but I suspect being in a bowl surrounded by mountains, means you will have temperature inversions and bad air pollution. I think Sweden has taken a leaf out of Draghi's book. The whole of the eurozone is in recession with deflation at -0,6% so the ECB is hoping that by trashing the euro, it'll make exports more attractive.

Once that happens, the euro/SEK should head north once more and we'll be back to inflationary pressures again. That will necessitate raising interest rates which in turn will raise the value of the currency.

Just the old 'boom & bust' scenario all over again.

The SEK/THB exchange rate has been floating around 3,90 for the past month, there has been no drastic change the past couple of days? I have no idea what exchange office you are looking at but if their exchange rate is 3,71 you are paying around 5% in exchange fee.

The Swedish government are looking into dissolving the 25 year old budget surplus target of 1%/GDP to tackle the current deflation. I would look more into that and the public investments that will follow than what the worthless central banks are doing.

And ordinary Bank Exchange in Thailand, they give you 3,48 THB for a SEK. ( 12 satang lower )

It was terrible . And because you are old nobody care much. That's their policy. They want to get rid of you , They don't want to pay more pension.

Here when you had some money , than you go to a private hospital. It's wonderful. You get respect with your money.

But now that possibility has disappeared .

Probably I move to BKK to a 15th floor building. To an small apartment , maybe 3000 a month.

That kind of apartments has very easy solutions, these are free solutions and they are very effective and they never miss.. You read about it often in the news. It's very common and popular solutions.

You have what you've done all your life. Actually there is not much to do more, you can't live to become 90.

Probably it's time to move now.

We'll see what shall it bring at the new place.
