TAT organizes 'Go North Thailand' event inviting the public to go north during off season

BANGKOK, 24 January 2014 (NNT) – To encourage the public to travel to the northern region during the off season, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has organized a ‘Go North Thailand’ event at K-Village, Sukhumvit 26 from 23rd until 25th January.

The occasion was introduced by TAT Northern Markets Division Director Panadda Chanpanya, pointed out that the northern region is a great destination to go to on vacation all year round. Ms Panadda revealed that the department would like tourist traffic to the north to be consistent throughout the year, and expect that this program will help stimulate tourist numbers to rise by about 13%, thus increasing spending by 17.4%. Promoting this strategy has resulted in the establishment of the three day event.

The event features 3 zones and is comprised of 22 booths namely:

1. The www.gonorththailand.com booth, to publicize the website which gathers traveling blogs, and reviews recommending various traveling destinations fit for all types of travelers; there will also be fun activities which will be organized all year round.

2. The Wonderful weekday trips zone, presents all the great reasons to travel on a weekday. Private sector travel agents have set up their booths at the fair to offer amazing discounts for tours, hotels, and airline tickets.

3. The Twelve Hidden Gems of Thailand, assemble all the not-to-be-missed cities of the north, showing what amazing activities that are available. This section also highlights three cities which are soon to be “The Next Must-go-to Destinations” : Lumpang, Phetchabun, and Nan, and the answer why, can be found in the fair.

Visitors to the fair will also experience the northern culture as well as authentic northern food, which is not easily found in the central region. Besides eating the food, there are workshops to paint umbrellas and places to paint Rooster bowls ‘ชามตราไก่’, and participants can bring their design back home.

TAT intends that the event can present travelers with a new perception, and show that vacations don’t always have to be in the big cities or during the peak season, as there is so much amazing culture and beautiful sights to be seen during the normal working week all over Thailand, and the northern region is one of the best destinations to visit all year round.

Sounds like the same daily activities found in a state psychiatric hospital. Considering this idea came from TAT....blink.png

TAT continues to promote Thailand to Thais

The people involved in the tourist trade in the south will love this.

It was said the TAT planned a promotion, but are still searching for the right slogan.

It seems someone told them that "a place to see before you die" and "includes military escort" may not attract the right type of tourists.

What can one do in the city of Phetchabun other than shopping?

NO, PLEASE.....don't come up here!

We already have enough brain dead driver's up here.

We don't need any more.

Turn around....and go back where you came from.

www.gonorththailand.com

At first glance I thought that was a website fro a sexually transmitted disease.

There's a handful of Wats' and a couple of waterfalls just like everywhere in Thailand! But Khao Koh is nice though

So those of us that live up North are thinking of having our own event entitled "TAT go to hell" during the off season (and every other season for that matter). thumbsup.gif

Dang. More nut-job Thai drivers on the road in the North. Not what we need. whistling.gif

LOL, me too!

In the off season? That would be BURN SEASON where the north is covered in smoke and everyone is wearing a mask. Your lungs often hurt, people are sick.... yea, great time to see the north.

TAT strikes again.

Is "www.gonorththailand.com" only ment for Thai people. It`s in Thai !!!!! I cannot read it. I want to visit the north, but this do not help me at all. How many millions of THB ???

Hallo TAT. Is the North of Thailand reserved for Thais ?

Kao Koh and the waterfalls are in the province of Petchabun. The word "city" was specifically mentioned.

I do remember going and spending time on my motorbike in the north.

One time I almost was burned by heavy forest fires on both sides of the road.

The burbing season has started, north Thailand is already in a mist and the authorities do absolutely nothing about it whilst hundreds have to be taken to hospitals with breathing problems.

I don't see where it implies that they are only promoting it to Thai tourist.

I would prefer no tourist come north. Yes, I am a nimby.( Not In My Backyard )

But promoting it to Thai tourist is better than promoting it to foreign tourist.

Better to keep tourist like them in the south where they have already done their damage.

Way too many foreign tourist are under the misconception that if most bar girls in the south came from Esaan, then all the girls in Esaan are available to tourist.

They are not.

I foresee big problems if foreign tourists are lured north.

I prefer the Thai tourist who may have difficulty keeping their car on the road to the foreigners who have difficulty keeping their pants on!
