3BB [Advanced] Questions

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm planning to switch to 3BB Fttx (either fiber or vdsl, not sure which one they'll provide to my mooban) from True Docsis 3.0 30/3 mbit (1299 baht + vat)

Although True provides decent download speeds for me, Voip / Skype / Viber is not so reliable.

When I skype to my friend in Sakon Nakhon, although we're in same network (He also uses True Docsis), video quality is unstable. In some conditions, even crappy TOT (routes via USA --> Europe --> My home country) provides cleaner sound quality than True in SIP calls.

At prime time, even using singapore vpn on personal vps (not shared vpn) doesn't help much with voip applications.

If I get 30/3 3BB, I plan to keep my True at lowest possible speed (15mbit for 699?) for sometime.

Anyways here is my questions:

How bad is 3BB Throttling? Do they throttle everyone at primetime (18-23) or just heavy downloaders?

How bad is download speed at prime time?

Is 3BB still blocking certain ports such as 80, 587, 110 etc?

How good is it in Voip / Viber / Skype calls?

Is there a transparent proxy enforced like in True Online?

Are you happy with EU connection speed / pings of 3BB in general?

Thanks for answers.

I have 3bb and download speed is fine it is the upload speed that really sucks . Video is terrible. pictures OK. Have not tried Skype .

My 13 gbs line 3BB works very well ... for everything, from Skype or Facetime to UK or North America...

I often upload hundreds of photos, which really does not take long, even when watching IPTV at the same time thumbsup.gif

I know two people with the 30 gbs lines, who don't seem to have better reception and paid thousands for the fiber-optic line to be put in...facepalm.gif

But it can vary from area to area... wink.png

Got the 50Mb 3bb fibre and working well.

Port 80 inbound is blocked, not tried a local mail server but got web going on 82. Believe but not tried that they unblock when you upgrade to premium packages with fixed ip.

Cat fibre is also generally very good, very stable and not blocked.

Tot doesnt block 80, works well but minor instability.

True can be fast but always tempramental.

That said the good and bad choices vary from village to village so ask your neigbours.
