Lizard Squad claims responsibility for Facebook hack

The infamous hacking group Lizard Squad has claimed responsibility for a series of unexplained outages on popular websites including Facebook and Instagram.

Reports first started circulating on Twitter around about 13:30 (Bangkok time) from people unsuccessfully trying to access Facebook.

It then became clear that Facebook wasn’t the only site experiencing problems, with Sky News reporting that Instagram, Tinder and Hipchat were also offline.

I am not sure that simply tweeting the words "Facebook, Instagram, Tinder, Hipchat, AIM #offline #LizardSquad" constitutes a claim of responsibility. Mainstream news has not picked the LizardSquad story yet, (Other than RT) and they made that tweet 2+ hours ago.

LizardSquad is allegedly ISIS(IL).

Facebook: "Earlier this evening many people had trouble accessing Facebook and Instagram. This was not the result of a third party attack but instead occurred after we introduced a change that affected our configuration systems. We moved quickly to fix the problem, and both services are back to 100% for everyone."

They might say that, but if you were watching the 'salvos' being fired at US at the time, it's pretty easy to believe it was a DDOS : http://map.ipviking.com/

Note it looked nothing like it does now... the screen was amass with color, with EU, UK, CN, and JP shooting big frikking laser beams at two US targets...
