Found these two snakes mating outside a bedroom window this morning. They were in full sun, at 10.20am, temperature was 24 C. Each snake is well over one metre long.

Could any member please identify them for me please, together with likely number of eggs, as I suspect I am going to have more than a few baby snakes in the garden soon, and if they are dangerous to humans and/or dogs.post-205742-0-90364400-1422419998_thumb.

My wife now tells me that the garden is dangerous, and this all happened after I spotted a few water snakes in my Koi pond.

Many thanks for any help.

I agree ts a kukri, will bite but has rear fangs and venom not strong enough to do much to you but you might get profuse bleeding due to anti coagulant property of venom, basically it has to chew on yer finger for sometime .

Educate yer Wife, it aint dangerous

Maybe give them a nice place inside the bedroom, noh.

or down yer pants??? doh?

They look like Rat snakes, I can only just see their eyes, if they are like cats eyes they are poisonous, if just black round, then they are not poisonous but treat all snakes as poisonous.

There is no such thing as a poisonous snake.

You sir are wrong. Vipers have catlike eye, ok. Now take a look at the eye of a cobra, mamba, taipan (Elapidae) what kind of pupill do they have? That' right they are round.

Not a Kukri. I'd say Keelbacks, a non venomous, yet aggressive, snake, fond of water too.

Agree that Wikipedia is not always correct, but to be fair in this case it's more a question of the lacking searching skills of rabid old goat. It's correct that there is no Wikipedia page for "Oligodon fasciolatus", but then you cannot expect a separate page for each sub species of snake. Had he searched for "Oligodon" or "Kukri snakes" instead, he would have found this page, where the subspecies are mentioned including Oligodon fasciolatus.

Curious about something a bit off topic. My gf lives in a large house in Bang Khae with her 4 daughters and grandmom. They have frequent uninvited snakes in the downstairs area. Last Saturday about a meter long snake was found in the kitchen. Gf called 199 and was told someone would be out to get the snake. The women waited 7-hrs for the snake team to show up; meanwhile keeping the snake in a corner with brooms and wash mops.

My questions are: What basic steps can a homeowner take to 'snakeproof' the house. Also, that pepper spray many western woman carry to fend off attackers (and I think has limited availability in Thailand) - is it at all effective against a snake to disorient or disable the snake?

Thank for any help
