PATTAYA: -- On Monday Night, District Officials, assisted by the Thai Army and local Police, continued to visit Bars and other entertainment venues in the Pattaya area in search of those engaging in Prostitution and venues which engage in Human Trafficking.

The raid took place just before 7pm and over 50 officers entered the Lounge, which is a converted 2-storey luxury home with swimming pool. There were more than 100 patrons inside, both Thai and Foreign, who were split-up while officers conducted ID checks.

The trouble with these endless "Crack Downs" is people or venues that are offending stop what they are doing during the "Crack Down" and then continue what they were doing when the Police and Media lose interest. Consistent policing and enforcement of the law is whats required, not headline grabbing "Crack Downs"

Well, shutting down the place for at least 30 days will certainly shake things up a bit.

True , but all the others will go very quiet until the raids stop and then start up again

Finding places like these however will take the keeness minds of the bib. This search will be like finding needles in haystacks.

The only way to bust these bars is to do a sting operation and have someone go in and pay a bar fine and go with a lady. But as everyone is already aware it is about paying the police for protection so its only for show.

These crackdowns...crack me up! They were saving the used condoms to take to the Condoms Restaurant for display...This is Thailand...

It says the rooms were only used for staff accommodation. So, the staff must be sexually active and include at least one male.

The police could offer to check the DNA of course and see who came forward and volunteered the truth.

But, the real objective of "the raid" wasn't about that of course.

You won't ever stop these young Thai ladies from " earning a crust " for most it's all they know, and they all have to eat! The young Thai lady who lives in a room opposite me " went out last night in " hot pants & a thong " clicking her heals all the way down the corridor ( " a true vision of delight " ) .She hasn't returned yet so she is probably still enjoying ( or not enjoying ...) " more ride than the 4 O'Clock at Aintree " ( kind respect to the highest order ladies...... )

How would that work then, has paying a barfine become illegal recently?

if the bar accepts a bar fine and the pair go to a room upstairs to have sex it shows that the bar is engaged in prostitution. Or if the John is wired and asks the working girl in the bar about going short or long time and she replies and then the bar releases her after a bar fine it shows the bar is actively promoting the act of prostitution. But we all know it will not happen as this is only about show or perhaps a way to increase the tea money.

This is a joke in so many ways. They don't really care about prostitution or human trafficking. You're not going to catch prostitution in these bar cause it mostly doesn't happen in the bar. Just the bar fine is in the bar, it's up to the "couple" after they leave what they will do. So unless a bar fine is illegal, this is useless. Looking for human trafficking is useless. Because Thailand is doing it out in the open and posting stories about it. The people in control of HT rings would have already heard about this and be gone. These people are always tipped off before a sting. Don't get me wrong, I hope they catch some. But, I doubt they will. If the really wanted to catch people doing "immoral" acts, wouldn't they just go to the gogos around walking street lol. So it's pretty clear some one didn't pay their tea money.

Exposed! The dark and dirty secrets of that den of vice, suburb salacious - Pratumnak. By day a genteel, beachside resort for the well-heeled. By night a grim, gritty hellhole of boiling brothels and cheap whores.

Oh, for. heaven's sake! Many times the BIBs are called Keystone Cops, and this is why. The search for prostitution and trafficking, and it begins in Pratumnak. Spare me!

It'l be news when the BIB raid Thai brothels where they keep young teen aged girls chained to their beds by fear and coercion, Falangs don't get near these places.

Not been there for some time but the place used to have very strong connections with Immigration Police after the farang partner got basically run off the premises. Maybe it changed hands since along with the name change.

They will never raid their own places, cos Thais don't do that sort of thing...it's farang who do bad things in Thailand. LOL!

Pity, cos like you say, most of the girls in their places are underage.

Weren't there a lot of posters the other day which claimed that the new crack down doesn't affect Pattaya and bars catering to foreigners?

These bars were not bars catering to foreigners.

That said, the gogos and bars that do cater for foreigners are regularly raided and always have been. Those that are not following the regulations are closed or the owners fined.

This is not a new crackdown. It's business as usual.

All these overt, highly publicized raids do absolutely nothing in the long term against underage sex and people trafficking. Its actually sad to see these people going through the motions.

Perhaps on the underage side of it, they should be targeting the 14/15 yo mamasans running the P4P scene in the schools around the country. Of course they would have to be careful that all the sim card backups were recovered before announcing what was found..................wink.png

Wouldn't want any hi-so numbers where they shouldn't be, would we?

Its joke any way, the establishments are warned before they arrive, just like in MBK the merchants are warned about police so all businesses stop for a while then starts again as soon as the police leaves

But what is the point, Thailand becomes 3rd world and irrelevant if all these so called illegal stuff stops anyway
