canuckamuck
I have been using Kaspersky internet security for the last couple of years, but I am thinking maybe I should run something different, I have no clue what is the best, but a different internet security system might catch something Kaspersky may not be. Anyhow, mine expires in two days so I am open to suggestions.
2fishin2
Ive been using AVG for years. There are many free great programs. Here check out this article http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2388652,00.asp
lostinisaan
Continue with Kaspersky. You'll have to go for a swim at the bay. I'm always using the trial one. Just saying.
lopburi3
Bitdefender if you just need a good antivirus - have been using free edition for several years and like it very much. Stays in the background and does its job.
Digitalbanana
Yes, Bitdefender free is my choice as well for a few years following MSE failures. Very easy to use, finds stuff and non intrusive to your day to day work. Install over any preexisting existing AV easy also.
2fishin2
You cant install a completely different company's software over another, just doesnt work like that. With AV software, you should uninstall your old version, then install new one.
canuckamuck
Thanks for the tips guys, I know that I should uninstall if switching to a different brand. Bitdefender was a favorite of mine but switched when it failed to stop some viruses a couple of years back. But maybe I could give it a go again. ToddinChonburi
AVGFREE 2015 and Malwarebytes anti malware both are free and work great together. Malwarebytes is just a manual malware scan
Cloggie
Just install Avast from https://www.avast.com - use it for years and never a problem. Don't forget to uninstall any other anti-virus software you have installed on your computer first!
worgeordie
I have Emsisoft AntiMalware installed on several pc's for the last 6 years without any virus getting through, seems light on the computers i have, updates several times per day,it has 2 engines,Emsisoft and Bitfender. One one pc I installed Bitdenfder full version, that i got a free license for,but had to uninstall it after a few days as it was doing strange things ,like every new page i went to a certificate would pop up, If you are going to uninstall any Anti virus ,I would recommend Revo unistaller ,the free version is OK,after you do the initial uninstall, click Advanced and that will clear out all the bits and pieces that could be left, and could prevent the install of new AntiVirus. just found a new scanning program call herdProtect, its free and has 67 scanning engines. regards Worgeordie
55Jay
Panda AV 2015 seems to have added a few more bells and whistles this year, although I don't like the Win8 Tile layout they adopted with the 2014 product, but it's not a deal breaker. I waited for an offer in the $25 dollar range last year but lazy this year, took 3 licenses, 1 year, for $32.00. Now running the payware Panda AV and also scan with their free Panda CloudCleaner. Free Malwarebytes scans, and an always on free Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit for browser. QuickJava and Bluehell Firewall extensions in the Firefox. crabdog
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned 360Safe. It's fairly new on the scene but it has had many excellent reviews/ratings and it's also free. I've been using it for some time on two of my computers. If you prefer to stick with a paid service then BitDefender has been rated number one (on several sites) for the last couple of years. Kaspersky is still highly esteemed too. It might be easier for you just to resubscribe unless for some reason you really want to change. Edited February 4, 2015 by crabdog
h90
And don't have any of it and never any problem. Just don't double click on nakedgirl.exe and don't go to webpages where you can watch other people making babies......

marcusd
In my business we use Symantec CLOUD and also HITMAN PRO which is great for malware and thugguish hard to get at viruses. It is cheap and very effective. Also we use Malaware bytes free edition once per month. Pay a little, relax a lot

SpaceKadet
I am surprised that nobody mentions Comodo Internet Security suite. It is free and I've been using it for years. I particularly like the Sanbox feature that creates a virtual environment where you can run your programs without storing anything on your system. Great for running keygens , suspicious programs, as well as browsers. I agree it is not for the beginners, despite being advertized as such, as it takes a bit of time and knowledge to set it up properly. It did break sometimes in the earlier versions, but has been very stable as of latest.
Mcffee
Actually you really don't need a 3rd party antivirus, they do more harm then good. Activate Windows Defender and be a concious internet user, install Superantispyware free version to run once a week, clean daily with Ccleaner that's all you need. How exactly do 3rd party AV do more harm than good? Why not detect and prevent rather than allow infection and hope to find and clean after the fact? alocacoc
Only my 5 cents. Bitdefender shut down uTorrent for no reason. Many reports on that on the internet. Avast destroyed Firefox browser. Many reports online. I used avast for years. Now i see it as a malware. Now i installed AVG. Looks ok so far. Only i did deactivate email security because I'm not interested to do additional configuration on AVG for all the mail accounts. Also the notification "scanning Mail" was annoying,

Al that crap usually creates more problems than it solves. Never got a problem as well but when things may go wrong i will just use the image back up from Windows7 and have a clean new system again in 10 Min. I understand, but as I recall when I installed Bitdefender Free with my existing AV still running, Bitdefender Free led me through the steps to uninstall the old. Also the notification "scanning Mail" was annoying, If the did it was probably for very good reason - I stopped using uTorrent months ago when it became much too intrusive and deceptive. Tixati is a much better system in my experience. That said there will always be temporary issues with different software on some systems. The variables are infinite. Some combinations will develop cancer.
Digitalbanana
Bitdefender may have quarantined an exe file, but if you want it to run (such as uTorrent) then Bitdefender will allow it to.

Exactly, the best Antivir solution is definitely "brain.exe". Available for free. But sometimes hard to find in Thailand....
