PATTAYA: -- Pattaya Police are currently searching for a foreign man wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a Central Pattaya Money Exchange Booth which saw the suspect escape with 200,000 Baht.

The incident occurred on Sunday Night at the Rachata Money Exchange Booth in Soi 16 off Pattaya Third Road. The store is owned by the Cousin of the Deputy Mayor of Nongprue Municipality, who was visiting the store at the time.

He was held at gunpoint for a time as the suspect, whose face was concealed by a safety helmet, entered the store and told everyone to “Sit Down” in English, which is when they knew the suspect was not Thai.

For a time, the owner of the booth resisted the gunman and attempted to fight with him but he was able to leave with 200,000 Baht.

Wonderful deduction the by the staff.

There are a multitude of languages spoken in the Tower of Babel that is known as Pattaya.

Of course it couldn't have been a Thai speaker of English because Thai's don't do crime and more importantly they don't ''speake Egleesh'' either,

Thai-bashing aside, dress and stature sure make him look like a foreigner. And Thai crims would probably know who the place belongs to and avoid it like the plague.

Let's see, he was a dark skinned Russian, with blond hair and spoke English with a French accent. Or maybe it was a Spanish accent. So hard to tell the difference in "tone" for a Thai.

Practicing with my daughter of 2, she can say "sit down" in 3 languages already, just imagine the confusion ;-)

Sounds like a confession to me.

Amazing how many people will take an opportunity to bash Thais in general and the police in particular based on events described second-hand in a media report. The journalist simply explains why witnesses presumed the robber was not Thai (since his face was covered), and people make all sorts of sarcastic comments about the witnesses/police.

Thai's screw Farangs....Farangs screw Thai's.....When reading this site from abroad I get the impression of Thailand being kinda like the wild wild west. Ya'll a bunch of cowboys or what?

Has he got odd socks on?

I thought the same thing = he MUST be Canadian tongue.png

TVF is full of them. They come on here to Thai bash until their favourite 40thb a bottle of Chang bar opens. If the robber had entered the exchange and said sit down it Thai and the witnesses had said he was farang they'd likely self combust.

apparently not a real Thai else she would say "shit dow"

Not necessary, could be Noel Edmonds

Even if done by a farang, I blame the thai. They have to stop high rocket increasing bar fines !

Not sure what all the "slagging" is about. When police investigate a crime they ask witnesses for even the smallest piece of information even if they think it would be of no assistance. A "blagger" telling staff to sit down in the English language seems to me an important piece of information when the crime is committed in a country where English is not the first language ????

His bar fine payment arrangement was behind the minimum so who can blame him for topping up? It is after all the same money that keeps going around. His today yours tomorrow. No harm done.clap2.gifcheesy.gifw00t.gif

Another foreign criminal in Thailand looking for booze money . Hope he get caught and spends the rest of his days in a tiny Thai prison cell.

Has he got odd socks on?

Ha ha i think so.. got to be russian then lol or german nooo dress sense.

No wilder than your country Less violent crime, I would guess. Law enforcement is less effective, but that is kind of an upside compared to police states like the US, Australia and the UK.

Not so. He would have said "Sit down, please" if he was Canadian.

I wouldn't fancy being in his socks when he is caught - holding up a deputy Mayor's family and business.

Just as well he didn't start shooting.
