Cheap hotel like the Business Inn, Bangkok, Sukhumvit Soi 11/1

I was thinking about staying at the Business Inn in Bangkok on Sukhumvit Soi 11/1.

From the little info I could find on the internet, it seemed like about what I'm looking for: centrally located in the Sukhumvit area, no more than a 5-minute walk from a BTS or MRT station, single rooms under B1000 (preferably B800 or less), and guest-friendly. I was wondering if anyone has stayed there lately or has current information on it. I'll be staying for about 10 days at the end of February 2015.

I can handle places that are a little rough around the edges, but the two things I absolutely need are: 1) Quiet. That's the most important thing. I'm a light sleeper and can't handle noise. 2) Internet in the room.

(I guess it goes without saying that aircon is a must in this part of town--fan rooms are ok if you're staying in cooler climates like national parks or beach areas, but not in the middle of Bangkok. A fridge is also nice but not a must.)

I'm also open to other suggestions if anyone knows similar places (quiet, Sukhumvit area, no more than a 5-minute walk from BTS/MRT, single rooms under B1000, guest-friendly).

Thanks.

Make sure things don't get confused with GRAND BUSINESS INN, a newer, more expensive hotel very close by on Soi 11. Not a quiet area, day or night. Business Inn is old and tired...do not expect much.

Thanks dddave for the heads up on the Grand Business Inn.

You also said, "Not a quiet area, day or night." True, but I've stayed at the Nana Hotel and the Dynasty Inn right in the heart of the noisy area, but those places are really quiet. I've had good nights of sleep in both of them. So the important thing is not how quiet the neighborhood is, but how quiet the hotel is. My only issue is that Nana is pushing B1500/night and Dynasty is not far behind. For a 10-day stay, I was looking to knock B500/night off that rate.

Thanks smokie36 for the recommendation of the Nana City Inn on Soi 4. I'll check it out.

You also said, "If you like quiet move to Cha Am." True, Cha Am is pretty quiet. I've been there. But hotels in Suhhumvit can be quiet, too. Nana and Dynasty are proof.

I was just wondering if there are any hotels that are below B1000 in that area that are quiet and also fit my other requirements. And it doesn’t have to be right in the Asok BTS/Sukhumvit MRT vicinity. 4-5 BTS/MRT stops from there is fine. I wouldn't mind the Phaya Thai BTS area either since it's convenient for the airport train.

The Omni can be very quiet and at least is on the "quiet" end of soi 4......or like most any other hotel or condo you can sometimes get neighbors who are loud morons that could not care less about quiet....the Omni weekly rate might work for OP.

Wow, thanks pomchop.

I had no idea the Omni was so affordable. With the B100/day for in-room wifi added to the room cost, it's a little above the original price range I was looking for, but it might be worth it. Thanks again. That's really helpful.

The Nana hotel is not that quiet due to the renovation work done starting at 7am and finishing at 5pm. Also the staff have storage cupboards in the corridors which are very noisy as are the sliding doors on the wardrobe which some guests slam. It has not got any more quiet since their informal policy of banning certain people from certain continents has been suspended. As for the Dynasty: I think the staff wear very noisy two way walkie talkies.

Thanks for the info on the renovation at the Nana. That makes it a complete no go till it's finished.

Outside that, though, I've stayed at the Nana maybe half a dozen times in the past for a total of maybe a month between all the stays and I've never had any problems with noise like the storage cupboards the staff use. One time a guy across the hall had a noisy but brief fight with his "girlfriend." But that's it for noise problems I've had at the Nana.

I don't have as much experience with the Dynasty. I only stayed there once for 4-5 days. I requested a room in the back wing and it was really quiet. Don't remember any staff with walkie talkies. But again, only stayed there once, so I'm not the last word on it.

I forgot to ask about that. I didn't know about that (former) policy. What nationalities and continents were banned? I'm curious.
