BANGKOK: -- A theme park tycoon said today he is convinced world-class theme parks such as Disney World and Universal Studios will open in Thailand within a decade.

Siam Park City CEO Chaiwat Luangamornlert said once the ASEAN economic community gears up, Thailand will be the obvious target for investors looking to expand their entertainment empires of theme parks and similar attractions.
Chaiwat made his case using a long, tortured metaphor.

"Investors are like fish. Where there's water, the fish swim there," Chaiwat explained. "Disney World has opened in Shanghai and Universal Studios in Singapore because of the water. Once there's water in Southeast Asia, these investors will come to Thailand because they need to expand their businesses for their own development."

At times I think it's there already ermm.gif

So far only Mickey Mouse and Goofy.

Ah, attractions to rival F1 and the Tour De France.

I see. So Thailand is entitled to this, just sit back and wait for it. Nevermind the fact tgat Disney would have problems just trying to find enough talent to dress up in the character suits.

"Hi! I'm Mickey (...boingggg, wheeee....rat-a-tat-tat) Mouse."

"And I'm Donald (sprungggg...) Duck. OEYYYYY!!!"

Dream on! It will never happen. cheesy.gifclap2.gifcheesy.gif

He must be mistaken! It's already here....they call it Pattaya! rolleyes.gif

No need it's a fairytale land already!

Can't wait to see transgender Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy!

I would be very surprised to see this happen. As much as the CEO in the article mentions would like it, who would spend millions of dollars in an political unstable country? I can certainly see why Disney would want a country in Asia to promote it's entertainment industry, like Paris, but lets be truthfully honest, at the moment Thailand wouldn't be the first choice or second for that matter.

April 1st dreamers need some serious attitude adjustments.....

Grasping at straws again ? Didn't Thailand find the cure for Ebola recently? Think they need to work on cure for Stupid cause it seems to have overtaken Thais. Or someone is <deleted> GOOFY besides Goofy self censoredwhistling.gifcoffee1.gif next. Hey maybe China going to move there space program here there is a heck of a lot of space cases here. 55555cheesy.gif

"Once there's water in Southeast Asia, these investors will come to Thailand" ... well, Universal Studios went to Singapore.

BTW, if Disney comes, would foreigners be charged 10x more than Thais too?

I thought Disney world had been in Thailand since 1997 , then again Parliament house probably isn't a appropriate place for cartoon characters , but you must agree Thailand has had its fair share of clowns and they still perform on a daily basis. coffee1.gif

When looking at how long it is taking to build the new Dino water park in Khon Kaen then it will take at least a decade to build Disney World.

Took the kids to Disneyland in Hong Kong and spent more times in line than on the rides. 1 hour wait for a 3 minute ride does not seem right.

With the current mood of the Thai government, this is just what the Thai leadership wants: a big slice of Americana right on Thai soil.

Is this one of the "reforms"?

Yawn, yeah right... Just like the exhibition day for the Tour de France and of course F1 in Bangkok...

Thailand, the hub of outrageous claims!!!!!

" Daddy, daddy.... Why does the Main Street USA parade contain tanks?"

Disney will have to change the name of Mickey, Mouse... become Mou

10 years ago, they said that Disneyland would build a themepark in Vietnam (Phan Thiet), it never happened. I think it will be the same story in Thailand.

What a freaked up headline. Nowhere in the story does it say that Disney is coming to Thailand. Click bait.
