is there the demand for such an app in bangkok?

why would you spend time requesting then waiting for a taxi when you could just walk outside and hail one?

We don't all live near a main road.

Because some of us don't spend all our time on Sukhumvit. When you're down the quiet end of a soi, you can be standing outside for quite some time before a taxi comes by for you to hail.

It's a useful app. I did have mixed results with it at first, with some drivers not turning up, but recently it's been pretty good.

Used the app a few times and it is pretty good

Some issue if you cannot speak Thai or if driver cannot speak your language

Very usefull if you are at end of long soi or on outskirts of Bangkok

thai lang, should not matter as much, as driver can see on the map where you wanna go.

my 1st ride, young driver, with a clean newer cab, cost me 25baht with the 50 off promotion, sounds like there is a minimum 75 baht charge on the rides. i could have hailed 15 taxi's, but get tired of having to explain where to go, if it is not some location they know. might as well use the app,

can always have it as a backup , if you end up somewhere, etc.......

and you pay on delivery, not with your dang creditcard stored by some stupid company named uber,

who then would have you under their grip with any dispute

The driver is likely to give you a call... the main reason for this is to double check your location. I'm told that in many cases the 'pin-point' on the GPS location is often wrong so the drivers have learnt to double check. Additionally some passengers may take off in another taxi, the drivers also double check that the booking is genuine.

I used GrabTaxi a few nights ago from the outskirts back into central Bangkok - I'd have had to take a long walk through a friends moo ban to the main road or get security to flag down a taxi. This App made things very simple.

Well, maybe it's just me,but most taxis seem to just drive away when I ask them to take me somewhere. I think this is great.

We got a trip to Bkk arranged tomorrow and had to leave our car in a garage for repairs so I'll give this a try as we will need a reliable driver, that will go where we want to, take bags etc all on the meter. Worth a few extra baht for convenience and peace of mind, have been left stranded by drivers refusing us far too often.

Bercause in front of downtown hotels, they are NOT all over. In fact, virtually no Taxi waiting in front of a hotel will accept to open the Meter. and those few who finally will agree, will take you for a ride in more than one way......
