Old players can doom reform

The Nation

Deep-rooted mistrust won't help Thailand move forward

BANGKOK: -- Thailand's political reform means different things to different people. To some, including a few influential foreign governments, the word "reform" is closely linked with how soon a general election can be held. To one half of Thailand, "reform" must deal with the chronic problem of corruption, which many consider the main cause of the country's political ills. To the other half, "reform" must mean and deliver "justice" to those "unfairly accused" or those whose rights were snatched away through undemocratic means.

Gamers spent $1 billion on Candy Crush in 2014

702x336xCandy-Crush-702x336.jpg.pagespee

Candy Crush is still riding high in the mobile game charts. As I’m writing this, Candy Crush Saga is at number 3 in the highest-grossing iOS apps, and Candy Crush Soda Saga is at number 4. But the epidemic showed no signs of slowing down over the past year.

You might think that gamers would get bored of joining those little candies – moving onto bigger and better games as new ones are released. There’s really only a certain amount of agony you can take before you give up and throw your hands in the air in sheer desperation. Those puzzles are indeed rather frustrating at times.

Samsung may replace TouchWiz in favour of Microsoft apps on Galaxy S6

702x336xsamsung-galaxy-s-2-702x336.jpg.p

Rumor has it that Samsung might be putting the brakes on TouchWiz with the Galaxy S6. New reports now suggest that Samsung might also be removing the majority of its own pre-loaded software. What will take its place? A myriad of Microsoft apps, according to reports.

If the rumors prove to be true, these are yet more signs that Samsung is rethinking its mobile strategy. The company plans on reducing TouchWiz’s performance impact and sticking mostly to stock Lollipop. But they will be removing most of their pre-installed apps, which means the Galaxy S6 might not have S Health, S Voice, S Note and other Samsung apps. It’s still unknown which apps Samsung will be removing, but these would be the most likely choices.
