After you apply for a one year extension of stay, you're normally asked to come back to immigration office about one month after, on the date your extension expire.

I'm just wondering if there is a period like for 90-day reporting (14 days before, 7 days after), or you've got to do it on the exact date.

Let's say if you extension ends on February 28, can you go on February 27 to get stamped? Thanks.

You can go early to check to see if the approval is done. The 27th would not be a problem.

There no fixed before or after period. Even a day late is not a problem.

It is a under consideration period not an extension. It remains valid until your extension is approved. The report back date is just that.

Thanks. The reason I asked is because the date is tomorrow, and I went today, and the guy at immigration told me there was nothing they could do today, I had to come back tomorrow.

I tried to insist on getting it done today, but to no avail, so I'll have to do the 1h30 drive to immigration office again tomorrow.

The approval may not be done yet. Did they check to see if it was in from the division headquarters yet.

It's the guy who gives the queue numbers behind the counter that told me that, so no check was done, and he's the only contact window there.

I'm not sure how I could check if it was in from the division headquarters.

You could try calling your immigration office to find out.

I went back yo Korat immigration office yesterday on my report back date under the 30 day consideration of extension but was told it wasn't ready yet. It is my first application for a one year extension and we had a satisfactory home visit about 10 days previous. The immigration officer was the one we saw at the initial application that we got on well with and he just said to telephone later, although no indication as to exactly when, and not to worry. I'm concerned that I have nothing in my passport beyond the consideration stamp saying to report back on 23rd. Am I ok like this and has anything expired leaving me vulnerable or liable to fines overstay etc . Need some feedback as to exactly where I stand. Also was unable to get a residence certificate as technically my visa has expired according to the separate office I went to upstairs. Seems chicken and egg and round in circles scenario. Advice as to what I do or how often we should call them

It sounds like immigration was a bit slow in getting the paperwork to division 4 headquarters for approval if you just had the home visit 10 days ago.

The under consideration stamp allows you to stay until your extension is approved.

Just check with them in a few days and it should be done.

@ubonjoe

if the immi had not approved your ext. of stay within 30 days, would they then issue another 30 days ????

The 30 days is just the report back date, The under consideration period has no end date.

Some offices will do a new stamp with another report back date. Immigration did one for me with an additional 15 days the one time (out of 7).it was not ready.

Finally I went back today and everything was fine, it was just annoying to waste time and money yesterday.

immigration actually sent an SMS in English to my wife's phone yesterday evening, saying the application was approved, and to come for the stamp at 2pm or later.

Many thanks for clarification. When I do return is it compulsory/advisable for wife to accompany me? To get the residence certificate, which I hope to do whilst there directly after my approval,is there any additional documents I need? The house and all bills are in wife's name ,Al I have is my bank book. I need residence certificate for driving licence (both car and motorcycle) and to purchase a vehicle. Will I need one for each I.e 3 or will copies suffice. Does anyone know if korat charges for this. I've read some don't and others 500 baht?

Your wife does not need to be with you when you go back for the extension stamp

Your wife's house book is your proof of residence at immigration. Many offices do not ask for proof of residence for a certificate of residence as long as it is the same one that is in their data base..

You should get 3 certificates of residence. The drivers licence office might accept one for both licenses but it would be best to get one for each license.

I cannot help on the cost at Korat immigration for the certificates.
