THAI drops prices for weekday Phuket-Bangkok flights

PHUKET: -- Thai Airways International is dumping its prices for people who book well in advance to fly on five major domestic routes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.

One of the routes is Bangkok-Phuket, which currently costs a minimum of B3,015 for an economy class ticket.

But passengers who book before March 8 for Monday-Thursday travel between May 18 to July 15 or between August 22 and October 15, can get the same flight for B1,290.

Anyone booking on the same terms for flights between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Krabi or Haad Yai, will pay just B1,090.

The prices are close to those offered by Air Asia from Bangkok to Phuket (B890 - B1,383 on May 18 if booked today) but still substantially more than the same date and route on Nok Air (B694.39). But THAI offers 30 kilos of free luggage allowance whereas Nok offers 15 kilos and AirAsia none at that price.

The low THAI fares include airport tax and surcharges. Mileage may be accrued based on Royal Orchid Plus conditions.

Well flying Thai to other destinations is at least 4x as expensive as all other airliners that do direct flights.

I have posted this yesterday too.

Fact: Direct (non-stop) flight to Paris on June 2nd, return on June 17.

Price in Euro.

Direct with Air France: € 813,15

Direct with Thai: € 3.386,06

What idiot is taking an airliner that is more than 4 times more expensive.

Source: http://boeking.cheap...s=Y&pagesize=10

When booking in USD:

Direct with Air France: $ 911.07

Direct with Thai: $ 4,002.68

When booking in Thailand in THB:

Direct with Air France : 30, 820 THB

Direct with Thai: 121,255 THB

This is 4x as expensive !!!

So who is flying Thai ???

  • Only when you want to have an empty airplane for yourself?
  • Or when having a free ticket, sponsored by Thai government.

If you book through a local travel agent you will often find the price is much lower. Thai Airways is one of a number of airlines that can have ridiculous prices if you try to book direct.

They must be heavily booked on the June 17th because when you change the return to June 16th the price is much lower.

What immediately jumps out of the page at me is the use of long range aircraft on domestic routes. The 777-200 which has a range of between 5,235 to 9,380 nautical miles for example was never intended to be used for one hour flights.

And now Thai is intending to use their new 787s on domestic flights to Chiang Mai! The distance BKK-CNX is only 594km.

Wouldn't be surprised if they start flying the A380 to Phuket next.

It is nice to see cheaper rates to Phuket from BKK, less than $100 US, is very cheap.

I like flying to Phuket from BKK as it is much less time, than by bus or train.

I also enjoy the service aboard the Thai airlines, as they are much better, than

the service in USA or Canada. Plus in USA and Canada, you have to pay for even your first piece of luggage, that you

are checking in. Only carry on baggage allowed in our countries, as our airlines are so greedy!

It is shame full that our airlines have become so corrupt and greedy, but that is the way it is!

maybe better do your homework first before using very foul language

the return flight on the 17th of June is actually operated by AirFrance and not Thai, that is what makes the flight expensive.

If you fly one day later, THAI has its own flight and the fare is 42.000 Baht. Not exactly a bargain either, but far less than 121.255 Baht.

just open your eyes before making the usual "it's a con" allegations as the button for this promotion is clearly visible to everyone who is not blind and as prominently displayed on the main starting page of THAI as never any other promotion before.

1090 Baht fares available virtually EVERYDAY
